@Brivido thanks for such a detailed explanation!

@aurum yeah, it's simplistic to some, but 94% of the population do not implement that 'nice' message at all. Thought the film demonstrated the message of "sacrifice" very well
-
Honestly watching this film got me pumped me up for working hard on my life purpose. What it really means to actually devote yourself to something you see valuable. It teaches me what it takes to get to the next level and what is needed to be sacrificed. It questions the importance of talent in success. (I'll have to say the screenplay and the acting (from the main actors) were phenomenal, though I won't say the direction was great at all. Still, the film itself is extremely interesting) Have anyone watched this film? If you have... comment what you thought about it. IF you haven't watched it, just watch the movie.

I've asked this question too in the forum, but nobody answered. But I'll answer you the most I can.... with my limited knowledge haha. Read a book from Cynthia montgamery. The Strategist: Be the Leader Your Business Needs. I've not read this book. I don't know much about her. I was just recommended by a historian who majors in the study of nations and its foundation about this woman who talks about strategy a lot. He studies much about military strategy, (A LOT) so I recommend reading this woman's book. She's a harvard graduate economist and got a baccelor degree in philosophy. Cynthia montgamery a little more specific about her ideas really really specific about her ideas Or read Sun Tzu's Art of War. I know the translated versions are tremendously limited but what are you gonna do? You gotta understand.... the greatest chinese Warlords and kings and emperors studied this book to the T, and they all put their own interpretation on it... Don't underestimate this book. One of the greatest warlords of China, Cao Cao, loved this book and talked about this book countlessly. He was arguabally one of the greatest schemers, strategists, politician, crude leader the world has ever seen but one of the greatest leaders one could ever emulate because he wasn't only cruel, but was a great economist and entrepreneur. Funny, Cao Cao is portrayed in chinese shows, japanese games, books, novels everywhere in Asia. Basically, if you ask Korea, Japanese, Taiwanese, Chinese, Thailand, Vietnamese person if they know who Cao Cao is, they will answer yes. (about at least 60% will answer they know who he is) Or just read many science books or mathematics or computer programming. (But I don't recommend studying this in a shallow way) Recently, I've found out Steve Jobs followed a business advisor named "Joseph Juran". He lays out many strategies to make a business flourish. I'm reading his book about leadership and it's been very interesting! See how Jobs talks about this guy. see that although Joseph Juran doesn't talk about strategy as a concept, but just lays out what strategies business must undertake to succeed, nontheless I recommend studying him and find out what it takes for a person to lay out great strategy. Obviously, Steve Jobs was a great strategist especially after his firing from Apple, so I don't think listening to Joseph Juran is a downside at all. All in all, what better is there than to actually see a master strategist at work? Do you have such a person near you? no? Then, watch a video about them doing their work. There are no documentations? Then, go read a book about their work. No? Then just give up man. lol, but I don't think you'll do that. Good luck .

I think Leo is not that rude at all. Ya'll guy's definition of edgy must be soft af

I have read this excerpt from what was spoken by Richard Feynman in New York to several physics teachers. Although he avoids definitively answering the age old question "what is science", opting to speak more abstractly about the subject, he endearingly satisfied the difficult question for me more than anybody else. I wrote on the pdf file and wrote a little of my thoughts on the subject. WHAT_IS_SCIENCE_by_RFeynman_1966 (1)_210503_090208.pdf
-
@Leo Gura Yeah, I was thinking exactly that as I was reading the pdf file. Probably, because Feynman hadn't set a fixed mindset on the world, he was able to observe much better than any other scientist

charlie cho replied to AverageMonkey's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
to me @James123 is just out of his mind @AverageMonkey. The guy just spits out whatever the shit he saw when he himself doesn't know enlightenment. He's a hypocrite. As for what is enlightenment. I think you are right that in this forum, there are so many people playing mind games trying to find the Truth. Enlightenment is the ultimate blossoming of love. With such cunning minds running through their heads, enlightenment cannot be achieved. -
i think when you spiral downward into a madness by yourself in solitude, people tend to harm themselves and become masochistic if they are not careful, while others who spiral downward into madness with the collective, they tend to harm others who are not like them and become sadistic. Both masochism and sadism is inadvisable. It's not about being alone nor being with many people. It's all about who you are. Who are you? What I would add here is this. People who are supposedly enlightened in my eyes do not make a show of being the only truth knower around their social group. It is not to say they join in with the sheep-like mentality that society has which tends to hurt people with selfishness. They are in the marketplace, they have friends, but they only participate with their social group when there is a positive vibration within it. As soon as they see something fucked up happen in the marketplace, business, school, etc they just avoid and go away without speaking. They either try to remedy the situation quietly or simply avoid it all together. All in all, they raise the vibe no matter what by either staying with people or avoiding people. There are two paths I heard. These paths can be explicitly demonstrated by two of the most well known truth seekers in history: Buddha and Jesus. Buddha chose to be more alone and not be involved with politics. Jesus was very much with people and was involved with politics of Jerusalem, angering even the leaders of the state. Both are viable as Truth seeking and none is better than the other. Who are you? Take an MBTI test and see if you are an extrovert or an introvert. Extroverted people gain energy being with people. Introverted people lose energy being with people. Everyone is different, so I don't think one should be alone or one should be with people when one is seeking Truth.

I can trust the book "7habits of highly effective people" because so many successful people have recommended people to read it, but how can I trust the "mastery" book when only Leo seems to be the one in the mainstream recommending it? I know I sound like a person who's a sheep but hear me out. I have not heard one person who was successful ever talk about the book mastery as something life transforming. Although, I do remember one person really successful (i think) refer to this book once but I don't remember who he was! Ah! It's frustrating.

@Rilles dude your comments are useless consistently

@Rilles Leo tends to be harsh ... it's funny sometimes. It's compassion

this man gets the chicks. He's blind, but he gets the chicks. I think being eager like you texted her is good, but dont self deprecate too much ..... and now i read the later part of your texts just now. Lol. Dude..... haha. LEt go and move on. And focus working on yourself more and more.
-
@Jacob Morres yeah. But sometimes I wonder. How do I know about success unless I'm successful? "The judgement that 'Mastery' is a good book is from an 'unsuccessful' mind," I think to myself.
-
@Leo Gura dude, this problem has been a major theme in my family, and maybe it has corrupted me too a little bit. I could see myself always looking for an authority figure or a "mentor' to teach me how reality really is. (sigh) I hope I don't become someone like that later on.

@Ruslankungrufu I realize the advice I gave you revolves more on the big picture scale but sometimes can be perceived as disadvantageous in specific situations. Recently, I experienced having to talk with a girl 90% of the time without any ease. Usually, I would spit out words the girl would be interested in so that she could contribute to the conversation, but since the club was so loud even talking by the ear wasn't audible. Communication between me and her was unsubstantial, yet I haven't found my way to plough through that noise to continue the conversation going. In other words, I HAD to talk 90% of the time with her not even being able to listen to me. In a house party, I had no problem, but in a place where you have to keep talking and talking to get the girl interested and have fun, I suggest doing what Leo said above. The girl needs to know who the fuck you are before she gets interested in you. I say this to you because I find myself wanting to remind myself of what Leo said in this thread, and I think it's valuable advice for my current situation with interacting with women. In conclusion, I think talking like a "narcissists" is good as far as you are genuinely letting the girl have a good time.

I find this quite ironic. Since my younger days, I was taught not to talk about it, and I did that, but I found myself to not achieve them as effectively when I hid my inner truth from somebody else. This is simply my personal experience. The reason I started talking about my goals to others was because I saw many sports athletes like Muhammad Ali, Allen Iverson, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Larry Bird being honest about their goals. Steve Jobs was also one of those figures for me. He would have no shame in talking about his outlandish dreams to his peers, and he did not care if people called him a crazy douche. I know some people advise others to not talk about your goals to your friends because they won't support you along the way. I get that totally. But that premise, to me, seems to cover only half of what is possible with achieving goals when we express them or not. I think there is a strength in expressing our crazy goals to someone however weird it may seem. In one way, we could think of it as the dawn of leadership, right? How can there be a leader when he or she does not have a vision? I think this idea of increasing 50% chance of achieving your goals when expressed to friends was first realized with a psychological experiment, where they held two groups that would express their task to their friends and the other not. In conclusion, the study group that expressed their small task to their friends had 50% more results than the other group that did not express their goals. This experiment is an oversimplification of our usual immense task that is given to us on a daily basis, yet I cannot express enough how even this small experiment reflects the bigger part of our journey to become enlightened.

I really enjoy his blogs and find many gems there. I'm trying to bookmark some of them so that I can watch them when I need them. I wish Leo has a search engine for blog posts. I'm trying to find the "XXX variety" video but I can't find what page it is at because there isn't a way to search for it. Just out of curiosity, didn't he have a blog since the beginning of actualized.org?

I already took Leo's LP course and finished it to the T. It had given me the broad idea of what I want and the how tos of accomplishing my purpose, but is there any other course where it can give me the specifics in getting to the goal? Right now, I am taking a course from Derek Moneyberg so that I can take advice on getting financial freedom, and I have found immense value in that, even though I hadn't expected it to be at all valuable. It made me realize how much I disregarded the degree that personal development resources could help me really achieve my goals. I don't care if it is Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy, or Dale Carnagie, as long as they will help me achieve financial success and achieving great things out there - at this particular situation, spirituality isn't something I am looking for. Right now, I've never tried a self help product relating to productivity aside from Leo's LP course, so any suggestion will probably hit well for me - spit out whatever you think will help, honestly. You can recommend books, but since I'm really willing to invest more than just my time and effort into my goals, I wouldn't mind pay for the myriad of resources you are willing to recommend me.

@Hanna Luna Did you answer that way because it partly reminded you of your acquaintances talking about their goals but not taking any action on them? Or, those goals look too ambitious in your eyes? I'm just curious to know why you say that. I am reminded of my time living in America, when all my friends would talk lofty ideas after another, then I came to Korea, and my friends were all scared to talk about their ideas. It really was traumatic to me in how different a situation it was for my childhood.
-
@Hanna Luna yes right. I see that in western cultures. Funny thing is in America, everybody talks about their dreams. Here in Korea, nobody talks about their dreams, in my observation. I'm dead serious. Both are extremes. Man life is hard sometimes.

@Gili Trawangan very motivational. What I got from your post is to keep persevering! Keep on pushing the boundaries! Life isn't a box! You an poke at life and something may come out of it. Knowing that will change your life. Change it, mold it, make it better! Make a contribution to it. Don't just give up in the process and do nothing (do not not be resourceful!) Yes, I will. Thanks. I'll go on and pushing boundaries on girls. Get out of my comfort zone! This is the path to enlightenment. This isn't work, this isn't dating, this is practically spiritual.

I was sad, though, nobody was replying to your post of joy.
