  1. Starting to find all human interaction burdensome
Starting to find all human interaction burdensome
I think one of the most profound discoveries of my life is that human interaction does not really produce happiness. It can be a nice experience, but it’s ultimately an impermanent fleeting experience, and it doesn’t really fundamentally make me feel any better than if I didn’t have it. In fact, just being alone in my own awareness is far more satisfying than having to play human. All human conversation is also usually about past, future, problems, and pop culture, it really drags me into concepts, thinking, meaning making, and judgment, which all really produces quite a bit of unhappiness and obscure being. Playing human just ultimately feels like a chore, I was just wondering if anyone else could relate?

  2. What are the pros and cons of immigration? Is it always beneficial?
What are the pros and cons of immigration? Is it always beneficial?
Real estate has skyrocketed in the US as well, but it's not because illegals are buying up all the houses, it's due to covid inflation, printing money, and excessive capitalism.
You have to be very careful about jumping to conclusions and attributing self-biased causes to such issues.
Causation in an economy is a very complex thing. It's never as simple as: more immigrants = higher prices.
Don't forget that immigrants contribute to your economy. If anything Canada's population is too low and ya'll aren't fucking enough.

  6. The Glossary of Consciousness, Part 1
The Glossary of Consciousness, Part 1
Hey friends, thought I would share a little bit of the glossary I started working on. I was feeling incredibly creative and had a vision for a comprehensive and concise list of every possible aspect and facet of consciousness work. My plan is to describe each facet in the most honest and clear way I can, based on my current understanding. Here are a few to start:

Consciousness: the Infinite Reality of Being
Death: the dissolution of a form
Enlightenment: when Consciousness is presently aware of its True Nature; a direct recognition of the Absolute Reality
Insight: when Consciousness becomes directly aware of some novel relative truth
Matter: the physical manifestation of Infinite Consciousness; a condensation of Infinite Mind
Mystical Experience: an unexpected and ineffable shift in Consciousness

  7. Why is direct experience the highest form of knowing, when...
Why is direct experience the highest form of knowing, when...
Memory is not the same as what is usually meant by "direct experience".
But memory is far superior to belief, theory, or fantasy -- which is what most people are operating on.
Since reality is nothing but experience, without sufficient experience you are simply lost in fantasy.
Experience does not guarantee truth, but it's a lot better than not having experience.

  8. Serious question about suicide
    Serious question about suicide
@Bandman I'm sorry you're facing such health problems and dispair. I understand suffering from health problems.
The point of my statement above was merely to point out the truth of not-knowning. It's important in this work not to fool ourselves with beliefs and fantasies about things we lack experience with.
In this case all you have to do is to be honest with yourself: do you actually know what death is? The answer is probably no. So then the best attitude is one of not-knowing and openness.
But there is still the possibility for Awakening and higher consciousness where you might come to a direct insight into the nature of death.
So my advice would be that if you want a better understanding of death, pursue Awakening. And if you are suicidal, seek out help and support from others.
Don't leave the forum. Isolating yourself is not good for your condition.

  9. Israel / Palestine News Thread
    Israel / Palestine News Thread
    Exactly!
All the errors of the left come from this one innocent-seeming bias.
When you place anything above truth -- including social justice -- what you will end up with is falsehood. When are you learn that lesson?
    Social justice is not truth.

  10. Existence is a mindfuck
    Existence is a mindfuck
    Actual infinity. It's just insane.

It's actually insane. It's unfathomable, it is eternal, it is everything.

Like, think about what that means, it is actually infinite, and it has been infinite for all of eternity. Everything you have so far experienced, as you can remember it, is an infinitesimal small part of what you have experienced and what you will experience. There is no end to it. You could live every single life of every single being that has ever existed on earth and it would be nothing.

Just think about how far you have come, and you have no fucking clue. You have no clue where you are going, where you have been. There is no end to exploring yourself, coming to know yourself in the most intimate way possible, through pure being.

Existing is basically having sex with yourself, it is the most intimate act possible. And think of where you are right now, how precious this moment is, how utterly mindblowing. Forget about all the human bullshit for a second, just look where the fuck you are right now. You have probably been interdimensional fruitflies or some such for your past billion lives, and now you here.

Catch your breath, look at what you are. This is a rare moment of self-reflection on your infinte journey through your own self. You can connect right now to those moments of clarity, of which you already had an uncountable amount of.

  11. Questions About University Philosophy
    Questions About University Philosophy
As I said, it is good for learning formal rigorous thinking/rationality.
Learning rationality is useful. Learning rigor is useful for STEM type fields.

  12. Can anyone resolve the duality paradox?
Can anyone resolve the duality paradox?
The solution to this issue is easy:
It is to realize that the ontological nature of reality is that it is consciousness, which is fluid and relative, not a collection of static material objects.
The key mistake of rationalism is assuming that reality is made up out of crisp discreet parts and objects. It is not.
There really is no such thing as a "child" or an "adult". These are convenient fictions that humans invented to help themselves navigate and survive. These things have no objective ontology at bottom.

  13. Let's settle the 'nice guy' debate once and for all.
Let's settle the 'nice guy' debate once and for all.
There is actually scientific research that shows that tall good-looking men are statistically over-represented in leadership roles, like CEOs. That's because it is easier for them to land those roles because people give them the benefit of the doubt that they will be good leaders.
Good looks IS an important factor. Good looks also signify strength and physical health, which leaders require. You can't be an effective sick feeble leader.
When you compare Joe Biden to Gavin Newsom you can see how much looks matters. Biden's lack of health cost him the president.
And women very much must care about leadership because without it they are raped, killed, or enslaved. So all things being equal a woman would be suicidal to sleep with a guy who doesn't look like a leader. A woman's entire nervous system is wired to sniff out such men like a pig sniffs out truffles.
Of course women are sniffing for much more than any 1 factor. They sniff for a subtle constellation of factors.
As a guy, if you keep failing their sniff test you get hurt, bitter, resentful, hateful, and finally violent.

  14. Ralston's Final Awakening?
    Ralston's Final Awakening?
    1) Not as a stable permanent state.
    2) It's not about brain at that point, it's about consciousness and jailbreaking the human mind. The human mind is a very narrow thing, even after enlightenment. It is still locked into a human mode of operation.
    3) Don't forget, you're not actually human. You are Consciousness cosplaying as human. So you can in fact transcend all human limits, at least for a while. Discovering Alien Consciousness is about unlocking the human mind so deeply that you transcend being human.
    4) Consciousness does not have a human brain. It is imagining a human brain.

  15. Trump is going to win the election
Trump is going to win the election
Trump, like a typical capitalist, isn't anything. He's just an opportunist who does whatever gives him more power and money.
Trump would be Satan worshiper if it would get him power and money.
The reason Trump is so successful in politics is because he has zero moral qualms or principles about telling fools exactly whatever they want to hear. When the majority of people are ignorant, this is extremely effective for gaining power. Just tell the most ignorant segment of the population exactly what they want to hear, reinforce all their deepest hatreds and biases and they will love and vote for you.
Trump does the exact opposite of what I do with my audience.
If I wanted to have the most successful YT channel, I would tell fools exactly what they wanted to hear: Here's how to get easy sex, money, and fame by using tricks and shortcuts.

  16. Elon Musk goes full MAGA
    Elon Musk goes full MAGA
If you think that Musk is some kind of evil, unloving, uncaring mustache twirling Monopoly-man, you should really rethink your understanding of him. Musk genuinely cares about and loves humanity. It just gets expressed through the particular filter of his ego.
Don't forget, Musk has done a lot of good for humanity. Probably more than all of us here combined. It is easy to get distracted by his personality flaws.
You should see the good in Musk, flawed though he is.

  17. I'm BETRAYING My Authentic Self To Talk to Women
I'm BETRAYING My Authentic Self To Talk to Women
Look man, the mistake you're making is that you expect to get philosophical depth from human interaction. Stop trying to do that. Get your philosophical depth from private contemplation and solititude, and then use social interaction for casual fun and entertainment, a palette-cleanser from private contemplation.
Girls are not on this Earth to blow your mind with deep conversation. They're here to be cute and playful and raise your children. Learn to use them appropriately.
Entertainment is a waste of time but also important. Not all of your time can be about work and seriousness.

  18. Shots Fired At Trump on Stage, At Rally..
Shots Fired At Trump on Stage, At Rally..
Everything I understand tells me the situation is very serious. It's not a 100% chance of losing our democracy but something like a 25% chance.
You guys who downplay it with rationalizations, excuses, and false equivalencies are not helping.

  19. Shots Fired At Trump on Stage, At Rally..
Shots Fired At Trump on Stage, At Rally..
Trump did many things and he promised to do many more:
He conspired to steal an election and not leave office He incited a violent insurrection that lead to the deaths of people He undermined faith in the American election system He appointed many corrupt judges to important and crucial positions He staffed his adminisation with grifters and criminals He engaged in crimes to win an election He engaged in further crimes beyond that He promised to be dicator on day one He has no intention of leaving office or respecting any election results He is guaranteed to commit more crimes if elected and abuse his office His radical rhetoric has caused much domestic terrorism and violence, including his own assassination The people he will appoint in his admininsration will be radicals and criminals hell-bent on undermining the government from within. This is by their own words.

  20. Shots Fired At Trump on Stage, At Rally..
Shots Fired At Trump on Stage, At Rally..
Well, part of being intelligent is being able to see things from multiple perspectives and an appreciation for moral relativity.
But he could also just be playing self-deception games.
    Probably both.

  21. Politics are a traumatizing (especially recently) human experience...
Politics are a traumatizing (especially recently) human experience...
Hermitage is an escape valve from human madness.

  22. Shots Fired At Trump on Stage, At Rally..
Shots Fired At Trump on Stage, At Rally..
    No.
Two things can be true at once: 1) Trump is a dangerous authoritarian, 2) Political violence is wrong and should be avoided as much as possible.
The danger of Trump has not been artifically exaggerated by the left. If anything it has been understated in the media. A natural consequence of being a dangerous authoritatian is that people will want to kill you. This is not the fault of the left, it is Trump's karma.
Hitler too had assassination attempts. So did many dictators. That's why we condemn authoritarians and their ways. Trump is the king of radicalizing and polarizing the nation. Authortarians create chaos and hatred with their corrupt ways. When someone like Trump keeps skirting justice via the legal system as he does, this incites people into anger because they see justice isn't being done. When the Supreme Court itself has been so corrupted by Trump that justice is no longer served, people start to take things into their own hands. Which is why an uncorrupted legal system is so important.

  23. Project 2025??
    Project 2025??
Because the Republican party has slowly decended into bald-faced corruption. That corruption has now made its ways into the courts and the Supreme Court.
There would not be a serious risk of dictatorship if the Republican party behaved themselves and held Trump accountable for his crimes. But they don't want to do that. Instead they want their Christian theocracy. So here we are.
I didn't foresee that Republicans are this shameless. They are willing to lie, cheat, steal, and commit crimes to get their way, and the population is ignorant and brainwashed by a corrupt right-wing media to enable it all.
It's surprising in its stupidity and shamelessness. And the amount of Americans rationalizing, enabling, and gaslighting about this is an embarassment. This election should not even be close.

  25. Human models of consciousness are bs
Human models of consciousness are bs
Of course. Awakening is only suitable for a few rare people.
Awakening is amazing. But very few people are mature enough to appreciate it or reach it.
That is true. But even those gurus you mention don't live like monks. They have famalies, they make money, they have fancy houses and cars, they run a business, etc.
So in a sense you have made up that myth/ideal of an enlightened person being a monk living in a cave. That is definitely a fanasty which you should drop.
I have underscored many times that the pursuit of truth is itself a bias and that you need to customize self-actualization to your own values and unique personality.
In no way do I say that everyone should follow my personal path. That would be wrong.
