  1. @ivankiss Beautifully written, thanks for sharing! Not to criticize but am curious: are you writing this from your own experience or from knowledge? (if you get what i mean...do you truly experience what you wrote, as in is that your reality without doubt OR is it an assumption, an idea that rings true based on your experience and thoughts about it)
  2. @John Charles Yea I hear ya. For me I´m actually more afraid what will happen to my close ones. Like if the thought of what I think is me dies, then maybe also the idea that I want a family with my girlfriend. It would mess up so much. I fully agree with @zambize post. Just let it sink in and take its time. Maybe do some research and listen to some masters about ego backlash or the dark night of the soul and how to get through it as best as possible. (usually just keep meditating)
  3. Want to read it...but there are so many translations! Im looking for something that is not to hard to read and also good from a non-dual perspective. Any tips?
  4. @Salvijus I see your point, like I said earlier: it can be easier to loose your ego by devoting yourself to an external person/object. But for me it doesn´t seem like true enlightenment. Have you read Jed mckenna? he has a woman helping him who is totally devoted to a indian god, and through that devotion she lost her ego completely. But she isnt enligthenened (acording to him)...she is something else. I believe the inner guru is the only guru you should devote yourself to. Truth is whithin us, not an object outside us, even if that object connects to the truth within me I can not find truth in another "thing" than me. Or maybe Im wrong...I certainly am to some degree but that is my perspective nevertheless. Thanks for a nice discussion, gotta go!
  5. This is the essence of what we are discussing here. Why would mooji sleep with his followers? There is always a dynamic between follower and leader where the leader can take advantage if he/she pleases. Why would he let them devote themselves to him? Sure you can loose your ego by devoting yourself to a person. But that is not enlightenment so then you are teaching something else. Have some perspective? haha yes I am explaining it. I could say the same to you, you seem to be unable to understand my simple perspective: That I get a bad vibe from spiritual teachers who they themselves claim to be enlightened, say they are god and let people worship them like a god. And Mooji reminds me of this. Other than that, great post above, interesting perspective and surely some truth in it
  6. @Salvijus Great point! Still what I am saying is that if I compare Mooji and say...ghandi, eckart tolle etc he seems to lean more towards Hubbard/Hitler style of teacher/leader than say buddha/Jesus. I don´t know what is going on in that ashram but like I said, that´s what I see from my viewpoint. Mooji seems to have a big spiritual ego. Have you yourself been there enough time to conclude that this is not true? If you have then the statement is correct, that the love shown is honest and prove that Mooji is legit. I see you took the non dual route. Yes Love is all the same at it´s core, one difference in time/space is that One love is for the limited ego (hitler) and one is for the limitless love (jesus) In the same way you can say there is no free will, all is illusion. But for us uninlightened (me included) we seem to have free will, and the illusion is real. I live in this real illusion so I have a hard time saying that both love is the same. It is and it isn´t.
  7. @Salvijus @Joseph Maynor Yes and the people who started to follow scientology showed their affection to Hubbard. Just because someone sincerely feel love for someone does not prove that that person is worthy of that love. I mean cmon! lots of people have manipulated other people to love them. And when group dynimcs are involved it can really escalate. People can be confused and in that confusion think that they love someone when they really don´t. How can you see that as proof that Mooji is legit? Funny, I find that Rupert Spira is sooo much more on point than Mooji, which is why I prefer to listen to him But I think its not a general reaction of people, it might instead be your personal reaction that you assign to other people....Then again it might be, Im not sure.
  8. I agree 100% How is Mooji´s inaction to stop worshipping him conducive to enlightenment? Yea you can get into the details of being a teacher, a guru and how to spot a real vs a fake. But taking a step back I can just feel it in my gut and after seeing those videos of people singing, crying in their devotion to HIM how different this is from Rupert Spira or Eckart Tolle, even Jed mckenna. I haven´t listened to Mooji since I prefer other teachers so maybe it´s just my ego disliking him and getting fuel to the fire + I don´t know about his teaching so I am writing from a very distanced view. But yea, Im not feeling it.
  9. @winterknight Sorry if you already answered this (didn´t find when I searched) What is you view on psychedlics as a helping tool for enlightenment work? Have you tried them? before / after you enlightenment?
  10. Ok I´ve started doing the Maha mudra and it really feels...wrong. 1. Bigger thing, when I "stretch" and reached for my feet I should simultaneously flex my anus and pelvis muscles? and During that I should focus on the ajna point? AND during that Chant some word? All 4 things at the same time! For me yoga and stretching a body limb is to really feel the stretching, be calm, here and now and feel each muscle and fiber of my body. This gives me great body awareness, calmness and connection to oneness. But instead of doing that I should chant some old indian word and do all these other things, effectively ignoring the main thing going on: my "stretching" That´s like practicing ignoring what is obviously happening and focus on other things. Like if someone is talking to you you should focus on everything else than the person talking to you. I feel I just get disconnected and further away from here and now doing that. My inner Guru says this is not the way to be mindful. 2. Minor thing, do I really need to go back to sitting on both my heels between each stretch? feels like Im moving around my legs and repositioning alot and it really gets me out of the meditative state.
  11. @herghly Could you please point a little bit more where I can learn of "witness consciousness" in kriya yoga? im currently reading stevens book and not a big fan of the concentration lesson so if there is an alternative Id like to try it!
  12. @Dodo how is another "person" (something apart from you) supposed to know what is the best question for you? That´s the whole thing with being you, only you know you....It´s not like an enlightenened person gets omnipresent knowldege right?
  13. @Sven Thanks, that makes sense and along the lines of my current idea of my situation
  14. @Sven I´m in the situation that I enjoy my life. It´s not perfect but I have all that I basically need....What I don´t have is a big need for enlightenment, and I am making painfully slow progress on my path. I have barely seen the ox tale, maybe only seen it´s footprints ie I can sense a calmness/peace but no breakthrough experience that let´s me know this is real. And I´ve been to a vipassana retreat and meditated for a year. So I was interested when you said I can identify. Do you have any tips for me, any specific kind of practice? or just any idea?
  15. @korbes I know, unfortunately Ill only be there for like 3 weeks so Im sticking to the vipassana course here in my country. Im going next winter....Do you have any tips?
  16. @korbes wow thanks for sharing. Am actually planning a trip to India so will try to check it out!
  17. @non_nothing You´ll be back ;-) I stopped meditating in the autumn for no reason. Just stopped it. After like 3-4 months I started again and im so happy I did. Guess I just needed some time away...I don´t know. Or maybe it was a ego backlash.
  18. @Wisebaxter I wish that was the case! But I don´t think it is. I´ve heard a few people saying they don´t feel much difference. I get the feeling that you hear more from people for whom it does make a big difference, that people like me. So Just saying this to make a note that there are a few...and maybe not just a few people who it doesnt work for. (most other drugs work fine on me)
  19. modafinil and armodafinil has very little affect on me, barely noticeable Could be just placebo.
  20. Im just a month in and at the first kriya initiation lesson - kriya pranayama. Im just wondering if it might be ok for me to skip the Talaba kriya practice, the one where you stretch the tongue and instead do it during the day, like when I take a walk.... It seems it´s purpose is to make you move the tongue better for future lessons so Im thinking it would be ok. The reason I want to skip it is that it gets me out of the medative state. Also, I stretch until I feel a slight pain, is that how you should do it?
  21. Thanks for your input but I don´t see how it would help. I started with the approach to just to let her sit down and observe. However as I said she found it to hard not to do anything, her mind was monkeying around to much. And in the end she didn´t understand why she should meditate. So obviously this strategy will not make her start a meditation habit. She like most people are goal oriented and in the very start is it not better to give her some kind of goal? Im afraid that if I tell her not to expect any benifits she will never meditate again. Is this not a more advance stage you adopt this mentality?
  22. Got a friend who wants to start meditating. I sat down with her and meditated for about 20 minutes. But she had a hard time concentrating (duh) so I don´t think she will make it into a habit. Also she doesn´t have this burning desire to "find truth" that made me and others here motivated to sit down and do the work. She mostly wants to do it for overall health (focus etc) Do you have any tips? Im thinking that having a guided meditation might be easier for beginners? Do you have any tips for good guided meditations for beginners? Preferably an App since she does like her phone ;-)
  23. Thanks so much for the response, all very helpful Will explore each one
  24. @Preetom NP. Your situation does sound more... intense? Hope you find a way to cope or even better resolve it
