@Kalki Avatar By Leo standards, nobody is awake. I've done it after being "liberated" and it's far far more powerful. Sober persistent experience of no-self is not even 1% in terms of how powerful 5-MeO is but then again your neurotransmitters are alerted so I guess it's expected, it's like when I wake up in the morning sober I'm pretty energized from my night's rest but it doesn't come close to meth.

How does modafinil compare to caffeine? If I take enough caffeine to have a lot of energy, I get too anxious. Is the ratio of an energy boost to a rise in anxiety better with modafinil?

@Leo Gura Problem with psychedelics is that they are not safe for everyone and even when you have no mental illness history in your family, you may still be predisposed to it, you never know. At this point, I've seen 8+ reports of people really fucking themselves up through the use of psychedelics and I'm not talking merely about some very bad trip but a real mental illness that either causes somebody to commit suicide or takes years to recover from and in some cases they never recover. Even something as light as weed can cause years of serious problems if you're unlucky.

It's not about realizing your true nature intellectually or recognizing that physicalism is false of anything like that. I think you guys would be surprised how enlightened someone can be and still be a materialist, Sam Harris, for example, is very high on the scale of persistent states. A materialist may be able to get enlightened or not, same for Idealist. It has nothing to do with your beliefs, certain beliefs do not increase/decrease your chances to get there.
