Enlightenment replied to Kalki Avatar's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Do you actually think there is some version of enlightenment where people don't experience pain? Even if that would be true, they would be very dysfunctional and die soon probably. There's a genetic disorder where people are unable to feel pain and they usually doesn't live long -

But that's only a very small part of the ego. Ego goes much deeper than just a sense of being a constructed self in the head Just slightly better. Your whole life it seems like your will, attachments, aversions are seated in this self like you're the doer of things located there, so it's reasonable to think if you would lose it you'll be a better person but the freaky thing about enlightenment is when you finally lose it, you realize 99% of your daily behaviors, responses, etc. are automatic programming not steered by any self, they are "just happening" and it always has been this way. I agree. A lot of people are not that interested whether it's true or not, they are into it to decrease suffering primarily. I wonder if it's possible to overcome the problem of a tolerance buildup to these neurotransmitters. Also, it's not all about neurotransmitters since personality can be so powerful that it makes you literally blind -

Losing the sense of being in the head does not make one's morality "higher". Quick examples Culadasa recently admitted to cheating on his wife with prostitutes, Transcendental Meditation is very powerful in making people shift to enlightenment and yet TM is a cult with a cult leader Maharshi Frank was always crazy btw -

I'm not denying things like seeing ghosts, demons, etc. by some people but these things have very little to do with the sense of self and that's what I strictly mean. There was even some study that showed something like 85% of people have a felt sense of self inside their heads. I while ago I even did a poll on a different forum asking people where they feel they are in their body and the results were similar. Here in this old video Your state of consciousness sounds exactly like Location 4(loss of sense of free will and self) with an additional afterglow of whatever you did then. States that "stick" or temporary ones? I agree that there are infinite amounts of temporary states possible and in a sense, PNSE is still a state because contrary to what people may believe it's possible to go back. It's an extremely persistent state however I would say most likely not. It's possible to deepen location 4 experience a bit tho 1) because many experienced people who I listened to didn't find such people anywhere in Asia, the West, or anywhere 2) Going through these stages of losing the sense of self shoved me that it really was a deeper and deeper deconstruction of this specific kind of identification with inside the skull self and I went through a few stages of it until just lost it completely so it makes sense that "that's it" There are however more stages that are possible to hold with some daily meditation practice and intentions during a day: joyful unified state of Samatha, Jhanas, "The witness" etc. I firmly believe you can get so good at loving-kindness meditation that feeling of love stick with you during a day for the most part but those are all trainable skills -

It's very likely that the vast majority of enlightened people fall into a few clusters of kind of consciousness so in that sense many of them have the same kind of it. What about the average people with a normal sense of self? They all have the same kind of consciousness of very similar (I'm not talking about Spiral Dynamics kind of consciousness development here) A lot of it I think is language and how people use it. One guy with the same kind of consciousness may describe it in a way which sounds different than the other guy with the same kind of consciousness and non-awakened people get confused -

Your Mom is almost certainly not enlightened Ramana to my knowledge was very into Samatha/Vipassana meditation and temporary states where things like burning yourself alive are possible (besides his enlightenment) don't confuse the two no self absolutely doesn't mean you don't have pain. So you still don't know how radical "not constructing an ego" is Eckhart is walking, talking, communicating, writing books. Wouldn't be able to do that without the ego You guys seriously have a wrong perception of how it is to live with no-self like Eckhart. He still does experience negative emotions, unpleasant pains, aches, itches just like you. A more pleasant aspect of his experience includes very little self-referential thoughts which gives him much more "flow" unlike an average folk which is constantly bombarded by these thoughts -

The most popular version of enlightenment Eckhart Tolle, Daniel Ingram, Frank Yang, Kenneth Folk, Rupert Spira... are all enlightened by that definition The cost of fMRI scan is too much for my budget. I don't know if EEG can measure posterior cingulate cortex activity precisely -

I would be willing to go prove my enlightenment through an fMRI scan, seriously What type of enlightenment do you mean? Leo's version or PNSE version? -

Well, ok maybe like 95%, there is some stuff that changes but the fundamental "root" of your personality doesn't. From the outside perspective, you are still more or less the same person. -

Keep in mind they are very rare, 99% of enlightened people know that they are. I'm just against putting absolute rules as Frank mentioned. You can be fucking neo-nazi psychopath who masturbate to child's porn and get that shift in consciousness. Enlightenment in that sense is really beyond personality because it doesn't change it in any fundamental sense, all the personality quirks stay with you after enlightenment -

I was referring to what Daniel Ingram wrote from his experiences. When you ask them technical questions about their experience - it's obvious they are on some level enlightened but they where never talking about it or interested in it much -

He is smoking toad venom here (before his enlightenment) I took DPT and 5-MeO after my enlightenment and it 100% worked. They just haven't tried high enough dose. Love on 5-MeO is not even comparable with Frank/mine state so it's probably the biggest difference but there are a lot more differences -
Enlightenment replied to Kalki Avatar's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
I'm as enlightened as Frank, I mean in the same state I'm in it ~3,5 years I asked him in the comments and he confirmed He is still in a very excited and euphoric phase after the shift I disagree with him that you cannot ever have even 0,00001% doubt that you're enlightened. There are literally people who are enlightened and don't even know it, they don't even care. I mean you shouldn't doubt too much because it's pretty obvious, but he is putting it into an absolute statement like you can't X if you're enlightened. And of this kind of enlightenment is not what Leo means at all. To my knowledge he did it only once -

@actualizing25 a lot of people use psychedelics just for fun Not many people even have access to psychedelics especially 5-MeO. It's pretty hard to get 5-MeO. -
Enlightenment replied to actualizing25's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Psychedelics are very effective at giving someone a temporary experience of God but very ineffective at shifting people permanently -

Depends on what definition of enlightenment you use enlightenment as a losing the sense of self in the head, sense of being a doer etc. = probably 0,1 to 1% of the population is in some level of it Leo version of enlightenment (like on 5-MeO) = I can't find anybody, literally, no one is enlightened by that definition
