  1. Most people misunderstand a large system and demonize it and try to meddle with it. On the other hand, not meddling with it does not have long lists of unintended side effects. Improving your sleep schedule doesn't have undesirable side effects that you create by directly meddling with islam. I think personal development is a better approach for most people including me because it doesn't meddle with large systems.
  2. Are you saying nicotine is an addictive psychedelic?
  3. Orange groups can fight each other. Blue groups can fight each other. Think about Christianity vs Islam. Both groups are Blue and cancel each other out.
  4. We use different meanings for the same word. Constant self-sacrifice is a simple word that captures the essence of personal development. The exact definition of sacrifice is inconsequential detail.
  5. @Mezanti The solution will emerge somewhere someday. Don't worry too much about spiral dynamics. AIs could kill us or starve us to death long before tier 1 stages of spiral dynamics send nuclear bombs to each other. Humanity survived two world wars. We can survive fourth reich. Plus, I don't think world war 3 is going to happen anytime soon.
  6. I suggest you build yourself up first. Unless you become a hero, you cannot do much about anything.
  7. You can't empower yourself unless you sacrifice parts of yourself. To empower yourself, you need to change. To change yourself, you need to sacrifice a huge part of yourself. If you want to become a hero, you need to build yourself up first. Becoming a priest by itself is not going to help much if you are a weakly developed person. You don't want to become a priest. You want to become a hero.
  8. After sticking to the habit of meditating for one hour a day for a while, I keep seeing a lot of bullshits on the internet. I see a lot of bullshits and illusions. What matters, then? Carefully thought-out conclusions of high quality that are verifiable and significant. Conclusions of high quality are different from opinions such as "I like ice cream" or "I like jazz". Most conclusions uttered by people lack significance. Otherwise, they are just opinions or selfishness in disguise of conclusions. People delude themselves into thinking that their selfishness is actually a properly thought-out conclusion. If you don't push yourself beyond your comfort zone, you are probably packaging your selfishness as conclusion. There are many ideological communities full of people who keep complaining in their comfort zones(i.e. echo chambers). Results Track Records of Good Results When a homeless person says he's going to conquer his city, he's bullshitting. When you say you can do something impressive without showing me track records, you are bluffing. When Elon Musk says he's going to colonize Mars, he's doing a lot to embody his proclamations. He has a long list of track records. Direct Experience Lesson Stop talking so much. Stop complaining in your comfort zone. Embody your philosophy instead of talking about it. Become someone who matters.
  9. Strong Morning Routine (I've had good results with this. I use habitica to manage my morning routine) Taking Shower Eating breakfast 5-minute positive affirmation One-hour meditation 10-minute visualization Close tabs and windows on my computer that are not necessary. Unnecessary tabs and windows are disorienting and distracting. They can easily make you waste hours on internet browsing. I would close as much as possible when I take a break so that I can start with a clean plate when I come back. Kill ruminations and thought loops as often as possible. If necessary, trigger a mini ego death to kill them. You can't close unnecessary tabs and windows unless you know how to kill useless ruminations and thought loops. Constantly sacrifice bad things, non-essential things, and good things to make room for the best things. (The most important) It is a form of mini ego death. For example, distractions and some of your hobbies are non-essential. Decide to give something up and mourn for the loss. If you don't constantly sacrifice bad parts and non-essential parts of your life, everything else will collapse. Sometimes, you need to sacrifice good parts, too. Learn to ignore low-quality criticisms. Hide distracting HTML elements with uBlock Origin (It has been useful) For example, some dictionary websites distract me with sidebar elements. I just hide them with uBlock Origin. Make it inconvenient to visit distracting websites with uMatrix. (This by itself is not useful without other measures.) Disconnect my desktop computer from the internet when the internet is not needed? (I'm thinking about implementing this.) Use smartphone only when it's needed. Disable smartphone notifications. (This has been very practical.) I rarely use my smartphone for internet browsing. I disabled most smartphone notifications including email notifications. I just dedicate up to 25 minutes a day to checking emails. Plan the internet usage in advance (I will implement this as soon as possible.) Instead of searching the internet whenever a random search topic occurs to me, I add it to my inbox and process the inbox later. Single tasking instead of Multi tasking (I still have to embody the principle of single tasking.) Example: When you are eating dinner, don't fiddle with computer or smartphone. A proper automatic task management system (I implemented this weeks ago. It has been very helpful.) Emacs org-mode organizes and presents projects, repeated tasks, task inboxes, and GTD(Getting Things Done) task contexts(home, errand, agenda, calls, ...). My org-mode configuration frees my mind from orchestration and administration of projects and tasks. If you don't want to learn emacs and org-mode, you can just use a task management software such as todoist. Optimizing learning regimen Reading books for 25 minutes a day Ration my time wisely for things that I need to learn for life purpose. Optimizing physical workout regimen Optimizing work regimen In each work session, work for 25 ~ 50 minutes. Between work sessions, take 5~10 minute breaks. Daily and hourly ZFS snapshots for recovery of accidentally deleted files. I can't afford full ZFS backups yet. My complex computer configuration is described in a text file which I update regularly. Try to clean up files and folders in my computer regularly. This is an automatically repeated task in my task management system.
  10. I don't understand what is told by the fact that they were killed by ignorant mobs.
  11. I've had some tangible success. But, to take it to the next level, you should consider these. Close tabs and windows on my computer that are not necessary. Disconnect your computers from the internet when the internet is not needed Constantly sacrifice things that are non-essential to your life purpose. Enjoy mini ego deaths. Kill ruminations and thought loops as often as possible. If necessary, trigger a mini ego death to kill them.
  12. Are you saying I am a fuzzy slab of meat that has no clear boundary?
  13. @Joseph Maynor Is it not a good idea to befriend your ego? You can utilize your egoic tendencies to your advantages. Your ego is not going to die anytime soon. It's better to have it on your side.
  14. @Serotoninluv How much psychedelics have you been taking to experience Turquoise-level awakening experiences?
  15. I'm here to share love, dudes. My love is tough love.
  16. Who exactly is looking ahead an infinite number of moves? No one? You are I am God, but I understand nothing about my grand plan. Perhaps, a super-intelligent alien in the future might understand God's plan.
  17. Is it possible for existence to not have consciousness at all?
  18. Disconnect from the internet until your morning routine is finished. If you don't need the internet, keep the internet connection disconnected. If you don't need web browser for the current task, keep it closed. Remove other distractions in your environment.
  19. Psychedelics teach you a lot of things. So, they are worth the price. They are not addictive unlike nicotine. I heard some psychedelics can be smoked. If you want to smoke something, it better be psychedelics.
  20. Smoke LSD or 5-MeO-DMT instead of nicotine.
  21. @LastThursday Your profile picture looks like mr. negative.
  22. Constantly sacrifice the good parts so that you have time and energy for the better and the best.
