  1. I ask questions there from time to time. 90~99% of the questions I ask there are unimportant. Most of the time, the answers I get are not useful, and I could dig better answers through trials and errors or by searching the internet. Sometimes, I meet a downvoter who uses one's multiple puppet accounts to downvote me for pointing out mistakes. When someone uses one's multiple puppet accounts to downvote me, it's pretty obvious even though I cannot know whom exactly downvoted me. That downvote shit attracts unconscious people whom I don't want to interact with. Perhaps, it's time to delete my reddit account. Although there is some value in searching reddit, I don't get much value out of using a reddit account. Since I don't get much value out of it, I'm actually losing due to opportunity costs. I stopped using IRC and started using high-quality forums and mailing lists for the same reason. Dealing with unconscious people is a pain in the butt.
  2. I took a free online IQ test, but it was hard to trust it. Do you know any accurate IQ test? The cheaper it is, the better.
  3. At some point, you have to admit that you cannot read every paper in the world and have to prioritize tasks. The paper is not of high priority to me.
  4. It's expensive and only available in select locations? It's no good to me, then. I want to test IQ to increase self-awareness. IQ is not a fixed score. Since it tests your brain's function, it is affected by nutrition, sleep, exercise, etc, ... If you are deprived of sleep, your IQ is going to be measured low. For a person whose personal development is shitty, I guess good personal development can increase IQ by up to 30. Taking a shower increases my IQ. My IQ fluctuates a lot within a day. During my biological prime time, my IQ is higher. My IQ can be anywhere between 80 and 130, depending on time of day, my level of personal development, etc, ... People of low IQ can do anything that people of high IQ can unless their IQ is very low. It just takes more time for people of low IQ to process information. You need more of self-acceptance, imperturbability, and stoic awareness in case of low IQ. You need more of beginner's mindset in case of high IQ. I want a device that tracks my IQ at each minute of a day.
  5. She's not good at capturing attention. I found it difficult to focus on the video. She is distracted from the content for most of the time in this video. Her voice is too calm. If she looked and behaved like a cool devil, it could have been easier to focus. I think http://www.davidayeats.com/A-Summary-of-Cook-Greuter-s-Developmental-Model.html is easier to understand.
  6. I can love a crocodile as an animal rights activist. But, I'm not going to allow a crocodile to chew my limbs just because I love it. I can love humans, but I am not going to allow humans to screw me out of deals or incur substantial damages on me in some ways. I take responsibility for my survival by not signing a deal that seems to screw me over and not letting a person in my business or my life without vetting the person. I also take responsibility by understanding others. There are various other ways to take responsibility. I don't take responsibility by demonizing the damaging party or complaining about it for hours. Loving something or someone or some creature doesn't mean I allow it to screw me over. It seems conscious defense increases love, survival, and reproduction in the long run.
  7. Most people usually give up when they hit about 30% of the limit of their discipline. This often results in learned helplessness. If you always tested the limit of your discipline, you would be amazed at how far you can go you would end up going beyond your comfort zone as often as possible.
  8. This video explains a speedrun of doom (2016). As i watched this video, I thought speedrunning was awesome and said to myself "what if I could speedrun my life as this guy does?". I realized a few things. Speedrunning a human life is possible Giving in to your life's distractions is like fighting every enemy in the game when you could speedrun your game. Distractions are fun, though. By not catering to distractions, you can start learning speedrunning. You often feel it's necessary to deal with distractions when it's not. Feeling the need to play with distractions is the core feature of the life game. The game player treats game's narrative as just pixels and sounds. What if our political and social narratives are just images and sounds? What if we can treat the life game's structure as material for speedrunning? I can find and exploit various loopholes in the game to skip distracting battles. I've had direct conscious experiences of distractions for the last few years, so I know what distractions look like. Basically, I think speedrunning consists of three things. Recognizing and skipping fun distractions Skipping various kinds of bullshit in your fields of interest that you are trying to master so that you can grow as fast as possible. Spending a lot of time on learning speedrunning, and loving it. I'd like to play the life game by speedrunning. I'm not sure if I will love speedrunning, but I probably will after a while. I guess there are many speedrunners in the life game. I can understand why people give in to various fun distractions because speedrunning is not fun for everyone. Speedrunning by itself is not meaningful, though. I'd speedrun to maximize love and produce more labor of love.
  9. Find ways to love what you study. Find ways to become curious about what you learn in various ways. Without love, grit, and curiosity, you cannot go far. You probably have been curious about many things. So, you have direct experience of curiosity. You can blow curiosity into your study, too.
  10. Spend as least time as possible with them. Cut them out if possible.
  11. It seems God is a weird creature. Mental degradation and instability happen when you squeeze infinite being into finite beings. It's like failed biological experiments in zombie movies. If there is no God out there doing anything, who designed those creatures, then? Creatures don't just bootstrap themselves from scratch.
  12. Why would God stuff the world with such insecure creatures? How satisfied are you generally?
  13. China and hong kong are both not so free. If you want to taste freedom, go somewhere else.
  14. I know I can delete my own posts. I also can hide this thread if I want.
  15. Marriage has been becoming worse and worse for the last 100 years. If you are a gay and are thinking about gay marriage, think twice. You will think to yourself "What did I walk into?" when you pay for divorce settlement through your nose. Just because you are gay, marriage doesn't automatically become good. It is more a shitty business contract than a proof of love.
  16. What's the gist of the paper? The paper seems interesting, but too long.
  17. There is no total freedom. Only god has total freedom. Freedom is going to be limited in one way or another. Freedom of speech is always limited. It's about how to limit it. I don't think "we" need "protection" from free speech. I think "I" want "freedom" to bang assholes with targeted comment removal via self-moderation instead of removing entire post as I do on reddit. I want a more surgical approach. You don't need protection from free speech. Neither do I. You will want whatever you want. I want my own things. You seem to think that the fact that I have freedom to use a platform where self-moderation is more surgical limits your freedom to use reddit. Disagree however much you like. I'm going to use whatever platform I like to use. Period.
  18. You just imagined oppression. On reddit, a form of self-moderation is still possible by deleting your own post and re-posting it. Look, we have different view points and resonate with different pros and cons. As a limited being, my freedom is going to be limited in one way or another. I choose how my freedom is limited. I choose what annoys me less. If you cannot accept relative view points and relativism, we totally cannot be friends. I'm not going to try to convince you. Don't try to convince me of different view points. Don't convince me to use reddit. Don't convince me to be annoyed less by downvotes. I'm going to use what I like. So do you.
  19. Leo, I don't like docx files. Could you upload pdf files in addition to or instead of docx next time?
  20. We have different definitions of "broken". To me, reddit is already broken. Abusing self-moderation is ok to me because I want to be able to remove troll comments. I strongly prefer someone deleting my comments to that person to being downvoted by anonymous trolls and puppet accounts. I prefer abusing self-moderation to abusing downvotes because downvotes by anonymous accounts are far more annoying than someone deleting my comments to that person. Self-moderation is limited to one person, but downvotes are not. I don't like moderation by unknown faces. Self-moderation imparts accountability because it is limited to one person linked to a specific account that I can check. It ultimately comes down to who resonates more with which cons and pros. I strongly prefer self moderation. You prefer anonymous community moderation.
  21. I'd use reddit if reddit removed downvote enabled thread postors to delete comments. enabled commenters to delete replies reddit has been a nuisance for me. I strongly prefer self-moderation(ability to remove comments and replies) to community moderation(downvote & upvote). I'm willing to live with upvote, but not downvote.
  22. Of course, you cannot skip hard work. What I mean by speedrunning in real life is to skip distractions and stop majoring in minors in your work. For example, when you are a beginner of body building, spending months on learning to fine-tune your nutrition intake instead of eating better and exercising more is a waste of your time. You can do that after you exhaust every major optimization opportunity. Fine-tuning nutrition intake is a minor in body building. You can also major in a minor by obsessively tracking what celebrities are doing while you could focus on your life. In the life game, speedrunning is to skip distractions to not major in minors.
