You seem well beyond your years at 17 and that's great that you want to do these things. I am not gonna debate you on whether being motivated to achieve or motivation through fear is better you will figure that out for yourself. If you really do understand these teachings then you also know that it is a very slow process and it will just happen to you, in order to really help people you have to understand a lot, like what Leo says about systems, you can be finally independent, you could be self-realized and yet not understand systems and not really end up helping people because of your lack of understanding in the complex human world and the systems we live by. This will take you a really long time. You also sound really impatient could that be the case? Because guess what even if you are a self-actualized 18 year old most people will not respect you simply because of your age.

Just to be clear your goal is to curb your ego? And you are concerned over your laziness?
-
Lets start by out by outlining what laziness is. It just comes from you trying to save energy. Laziness isn't bad, imagine the opposite if you put in 100% of your energies into everything. The problem is when this energy saving mechanism is applied to the wrong things or its short sighted and then you have to end up using even more energy to do that thing in future if you also include all the stress involved. Here is the key the trick the things you really value I am sure you have no issues putting your energies into it. Consider this that for some people if you asked them to sit down relax and play video games (not saying you are a gamer or whatever) this would be work for them why because they don't value relaxing or video games (I am also not saying that is healthy not valuing relaxing) but just consider and think for a moment that whatever activity you are being lazy in is not universal. You say you are lazy I say good you know how to relax, the trick is being able to focus your energies on the thing(s) you need to do. I would just focus on 1 activity at a time. Your not going to be able to magically change your life and just have great energy management skills over night. Whatever that 1 thing is that you are lazy in, the trick is to find the value in it so that you REALLY do value that thing. And if there is no value in doing that thing then why the hell are you doing it? When you can find the value in doing it the motivation will come. And by finding the value I don't mean tricking yourself into valuing that thing. Link that thing to your vision of what you want in the future or the present there is value there. Also don't use fear based motivation like if i don't do this now then it will cost me in the future or there will be consequences in the future. When you really do value something that little child inside of you that scream but it will cost me energy wheehhh I dont want to do it. Will go away it will still be there on the bad days but much less.

Are you saying science in its modern form is just limited or it will always be I think modern science is simply extremely limited. You cannot put everything into numbers but maybe one day sounds kind of scifi but there could be some super computer that could actually understand reality that is possible right?

Wow that's incredible. I hope you understand that it is not really contradicting that at the core the message is the same but there are a lot of politics and human ego that get mixed in. I could imagine Jesus and I hope the authors of the bible peaching the truth and the commoner asking "Ok so I can eat prawns!?" @tejasrunner do you still go to church what is your interpretation of the Christian faith and what do you friends and family think of you now?

A danger with personalities types is to personify them, if you are familiar with 16 personalities one trap people get lost into is worry about the characters of INTP for example. With personalities you have to look at it as behaviours or characteristics working in a 1 way direction so an INTP person will often do or act like x y and z because they are an INTP. Its dangerous or misleading to say you did x y and z and therefore you are an INTP do not do this you will mistype others and yourself and ummm GOD. And just to elaborate a bit more I have obverse that it is easier for some personality types "get closer to god" and more difficult for others for example someone who is lead Extraverted Sensory is probably going to be more interested in people and get lost in the social aspects of spirituality like debating over what is or what is not spriality if Jesus was legit or if the Buddha was really enlightened etc. It will be far more difficult for them to go inside. Hope that helps

wow that's impressive, I feel like for very obvious things it could be helpful to everyone, like when yo hear stories of heroin addicts quitting after a psychedelic experience I assume they finally see/understand the obvious. -
Hi all I was actually wondering if anyone would be able to share some experiences of undeveloped people whom have taken psychedelics for the purpose of personal development or spiritual growth. I have had non-dualist experiences with psychedelics etc but I have been doing this work for a while and started "light" with mushrooms at the way up over the years to 5meodmt. Leo says in his videos for example that psychedelics do not work on spiral dynamics stage blue people. I'am almost certain that even mushrooms would be far to heavy for the average person that I know for personal growth. So I was just curious if anyone knows first hand or has experiences where it went well or not of someone who however you want to say it undeveloped, immature or on a lower stage in spiral dynamics or who is too closed had with psychedelics. Thanks in advanced!

@laurastarla Well 5meo is on another level and is the most rewarding but take your time. I also have not done it in a while and feel a bit anxious about doing it again. -

@laurastarla thanks for sharing, do you use other psychedelic as a stepping stone, did you start with with 5meo? -
I know psychologists and psychiatrists are there to help people typically who are far from actualized or even trying to actualized I have personally never been to one but I do know a few in my circle of family and friends, and I am kind of shocked of how little they know about human biases, stages of development or really anything valued here on actualized.org actually all this material would go over their head because they are in my opinion in the worst place you can thinking they already know everything there is to know about the human mind and how it works.
-
I don't have one. I said the one's I personally know some whom are friends and family which is a very small sample size. I was wondering others experiences in conversing/interacting with people who study how the human mind works as a career. Thanks

@neutralempty Well put that is kind of what I am seeing as well. Where some people who seem "green" do uphold green values but in a very blue way.

Thanks Leo for introducing us to the 9 Stages of Ego theory. It really helped me in a way understand Spiral Dynamics better please correct me if I am wrong. But my advice when using spiral dynamics is not to directly apply it to the individual. So this is for anyone who was falling in the same trap as I was. Even though it is even stated that Spiral Dynamics is for a culture and not the individual I still made that mistake. For example I was really confused with Hippies as many Hippies in my perception just repeat things they have heard for example one love or diversity but have no understanding of systems and simply repeat things like one love as a stage blue person does a quote from their religious text. It is better to think of stage green person as a person who is OF a stage green culture and that why they believe, and say the things they do etc but could not really understand what they are doing. And for the higher stages, because their exist no society of the higher stages you can say they live in their own stage yellow or turquoise world or their inner world is at that stage or maybe it is only applicable to the first tier stages? The Ego Stage development theory I think is a much better model for assessing yourself or the individual what do you guys think?

congratulations Leo!

@Nivsch Ok, how could you explain to me then how for example Iam sterotyping here but someone with hippy parents who also turns out to be a hippy and really does believe in green values has been through orange. I personally know many people who embody green values but are downright lazy and have never been through stage orange or maybe when they were extremely young that could be a possibility. But throughout there adult life to me its seems like they were born into green of course not 100% green and will probably remain there until they die.

@neutralempty thanks!

I am a new father and firstly you have to appreciate that we now live in a time when you have the choice to have kids in that you are not socially held back by not having kids. Since you are 36 its kind of time to draw that line in the sand. I personally wouldn't want to be a really old father and there are risks as you get older (not in anyway comparable to a woman at 36). Consider that it could also take quite some time to conceive. Firstly get out of your head actualization or kids. Kids take up a lot of your time you know this, most of what people say about kids is bullshit, also most of the stereotypes. I don't agree with Jordan Peterson here. It all depends kids will not grow everyone in fact they will hold you back a lot because you and your spouse can get thrown back into a sense of survival mode. I also come from two parents who really should never of have kids and just focused on themselves. Ok all that negative stuff aside I am happy I have a kid, I really like kids in general and for me it is part of my mission to help the next generation mature in their own unique way kind of like being a mentor to the next generation. I wouldn't say you even have to have all your things sorted out or everything perfectly aligned, I have a newborn and I've had to cut out other things like watching tv but I am still able to workout, spend time with him, work, also do courses to advance my career etc. Having the right partner is super important! And you also don't want to live in regret so there are a lot of things you can only do as a single guy or a free guy with little responsibilities but I am guessing you have already done those things. So in short if its not a part of your life purpose then don't do it! Cheers

I mean someone who was raised in a Green setting so let's say someone who grew up with liberal family and friends where values of love, diversity peace etc were just the norm. As opposed to an orange person someone who grew up in an orange environment got wealthy moved into green through exhausting their success in orange. Which of these two types do you think would be able to move to yellow with less difficulty? haha love it

Another post already has said great work with the conspiracy video. I have to admit I was really shocked especially by actualized followers I am not 100% sure but this video seems to have one of the largest dislikes to likes ratio. If you read through the comment section you will see people are not really understanding the message or have not even watched the video but are already using arguments like Leo is a hypocrite etc. So lets have some constructive criticism for Leo then since obviously the message was not as well received as his other videos or hit people's defensive mechanisms too much. I think that in the beginning Leo kind of made fun of conspiracy theorist which already turned them off some people to what he was saying and instead they were just listen to the video for flaws instead of picking out the golden nuggets and wisdom in the video.

Maybe he does think he knows everything I don't know the guy. But also consider that this is language problem, this is just a guess but I think what is going is you are taking his words too literary. if Leo really is very mature and developed then he doesn't mean this from an absolute sense nor does he mean it in the degrading sense. Leo is doing his best to describe some extremely abstract concepts and its important to look at the big picture of what he is saying because lots of the things he says I am sure mean something very different in your own mind and the associations are different. Even the word stupid I am sure that the word stupid means something completely different to you than it does to Leo.
-
haha , would you say it is it easier for someone who went from orange to green to yellow to go through green, faster than someone who was born into green? As they have already experienced going through a stage?
-
thanks will do That is a big possibility maybe I am confusing the stereotypes, just with people I know in my bubble who I suppose society would label as hippies do not fit the stage green that well as they do not embody it. But nobody fits perfectly into 1 specific colour. I still am studying Spiral Dynamics I'll keep at it thank you!

The purpose of life from both perspectives is to experience sounds simple but its one of those one sentence concepts that you can/should spend a lifetime figuring out.
