  1. @Luna Wilde I am actually using one of the techniques shared by Leo, it is called mindfulness meditation. Probably you saw it already. Here it is in case you didn't. http://www.actualized.org/articles/mindfulness
  2. Very interesting @Khin . One thing that it came to my mind was that Leo said that we are "reality", if I understood that well. And we basically are nothing. That part is the most difficult to understand for me at the moment hehehe.... Thanks for your comments!
  3. Little Buddha (1993) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107426/
  4. @Genghis Khan very true, I am still in the process of accepting that there's no "me" or "I"... that's a hard one Lol. Accepting there's no free will took me a lot, I hope it doesn't take me so much to accept the absence of "me", thanks for the insight.
  5. I had a similar problem before, if you are very depressed maybe you will need professional help. The problem is the same that I had, overthinking. We think too much, is better just to enjoy what you are doing and not think about anything. I know is hard, in my case being so down helped me to come back again to the real path or to my path. Try to draw, or do anything that you like and when you are doing it check how you feel. If you enjoy doing it and you are not so depressed you will find the way. finding the things that make you feel good is a good start, like @The Alchemist said, think what are your favorite hobbies.
  6. I am 47 if that makes you feel better hehehe...
  7. There's some good things, I still need to work others... Root:open(19%) Sacral:under-active(12%) Navel:open(50%) Heart:over-active(69%) Throat:open(56%) Third Eye:under-active(0%) Crown:open(62%)
  8. There's no free will, that is true. But we don't know it. It's good for you to understand it from a theory perspective, right now we are not aware of that so we just do whatever we need to do. The important thing about free will is to understand that nothing is under our control. Not even enlightenment. The best way is to let it go, stop controlling things, try to be mindful, aware of what's happening, observing your actions like someone who is not you, like if you study an object and let awareness come to you by itself. Don't change nothing, continue doing what you do, and meditate a lot. The most useful meditation that I found is the one that Leo posted who is called mindful meditation. http://www.actualized.org/articles/mindfulness-meditation
  9. I totally agree with Yavor, I am also a note taker. And the same thing happened to me, I thought I have to memorize everything and that's not true. So, having a notebook close to me and a pencil is also a way to spend commutes wisely. I really want to begin to work on mind maps, they say it's an awesome way to help and improve your memory.
  10. Ok, I'm actually working on a printing company doing graphic design and prepress and I feel a bit stuck. So, I'm looking to expand and to grow as a designer. I had a proposal from another printing and advertising company to create websites for them and become a partnership in that area. That's good to me because they have much more customers than me, so that would be of help to begin because I won't need to be worried too much about getting new customers. To really be able to work more on that side of the business I need more customers, I am also an illustrator and a web designer. The main focus right now is on design for printing, that's what I know. Postcards, business cards, letterheads, magazines, etc. But I am also doing websites and I want to do applications for cell phones and games probably. So I feel like a have many areas and I am not focusing on what to do, you can notice it by how disorganized I wrote this post. My first idea for me is to focus on marketing, I need customers. I was trying to find out a good company to buy a really good amount of e-mail addresses from business mainly in Manhattan. To make a e-mail marketing campaign in the beginning. I don't have time to go visit business personally, so my idea is to get in contact first via e-mail and go to visit only those business which can show some interest in my service. Any suggestion??? Thanks!!!!
  11. @Leo Gura Cool, thanks again! Your advice will help me to continue trying and not give up until I find the formula that it works for me.
  12. @Leo Gura thank you very much for your advice, I will keep in mind what you are telling me. Good to know. I always tend to think that there's like a magic formula for marketing that I didn't know , hehehehe... it's good to know so my expectations are not very high. I will try several methods to see which one work better. Thanks again! and thanks for this forum, very helpful really.
  13. First of all, thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts, it helped me a lot to understand a bit more. To Galyna (I'm not sure if you asked me, but this is what I think about self-awareness): At this moment I feel like awareness is realize that you are not your ego and act in that way. Act without preconceptions, seeing things the way they really are and not the way I think they are. At this moment, I know intellectually that I'm not my ego, that I am not my thoughts, emotions, etc. But they still control me, right now through observing the environment, my reactions, observing my thoughts I am beginning to develop a bit more of awareness, but I know I still have work to be done to clean the mud of my emotions, thoughts, etc . I am still no confident, I have fears, I don't see very well the problems of why I'm still not as successful as I would like, etc. And about meditation, don't be scared. The meditation that I think we need to be aware is just to be more in touch with reality. Not trying to reach an state of nirvana or anything like that. It's just see the reality better without all the ideas that we have from past experiences, thoughts, preconceived ideas, etc. That's at least what I understand at this moment. Thanks everybody again for your valuable input!!!
  14. Elizabeth, New Jersey here... but I am native from Uruguay. That's why my english is sloppy Lol... :-P
  15. Thank you very much, very nice answer. I see... I need to stop seeking. It's true.
  16. I'm also on medication, I have Zoloft at this moment. I think as you said, it is good in moments where you are very depressed. The doctor I had was very good in showing us how the human brain works and how this meds help to recover the connections between the neurons in your brain. But they also addressed that if there's no help on your part the medication can be not enough. You have to work on yourself too to get positive and improve your condition. But there are some cases where medicine is needed. In my case it really helped me to get out of the bad moment and get on my feet. Now I am very far from that moment of crisis and I hope to keep it that way.
  17. AlmostActualized.... Thank you very much for your comments! I really appreciate them! I know I am all over the place hahahaha.... That's why I was asking for direction. You were really helpful, thanks!!!
  18. Cool Ayla, thanks for your comments. Sometimes I got a bit anxious and I want to become aware very fast hehehe.... thanks again!
  19. Is The best way to be enlightened just to observe your thoughts and reactions without being involved in them? Is there a point where you became aware of who you really are?
  20. I have problems with overthinking too, really helpful advices here. I found the meditation exercise that leo uploaded on youtube, where you have to focus to the outside without thinking, just note the object, then name it with the sense that you are using (see, hear or feel) and then observe it without judging, without analyzing it and then save it on a part of your memory. It helped me to be more focused and not to think so much... this is the link to that video:
  21. I discovered mooji recently and I must say he's awesome.
  22. I agree, I try to meditate on the bus and I read a lot. Now I'm beginning to listen to audiobooks too.
  23. I'm trying to do a morning routine, normally I just take a shower first time in the morning. Then I go into breakfast, I am also in the process of switching to a healthier breakfast, as Leo said, more veggies, etc. Not so much bread and sugar. My idea is to make at least 15 minutes of exercise, first thing in the morning, then shower and after that meditate at least 20 minutes. Then breakfast and getting ready to work. I'm working on creating that morning routine. And then before going to bed I try to meditate again. :-)
  24. Thanks mgi0077, you are totally right. I think I just have the response from what you just posted. Thanks!
