That's what I don't get, isn't that ultimately consciousness our true self? It is witnessing itself, the only thing is that maya (the illusion) is making it believe that is a separated entity. Or am I wrong?

Well, you are "thinking" that I am not going to engage because I say world is an illusion, that's your belief. Knowing that the world is an illusion gives you a much more strong place to confront it. Try it one day and you will know how it works. You won't be overwhelmed by the situation, and you will act getting the best possible results, if you continue "thinking" in being attached to worldly problems, you won't act to get the best results, you will act from your unconscious ego and probably you will feel overwhelmed by the "problem". If you think we are egoic beings on the planet earth, that's what we will be. But you know we are not that. I am not trying to say that I am right, I just act from a different perspective, that in my experience is much better than believing the world is the "ultimate reality".

If you are interested in true Christianity, I will suggest you to watch the teachings of Father Rohr. He really explains very well the true teachings of Jesus, like most of the mystics Christians, the dessert fathers, etc...

Totally agree with that. Pills works if we believe they can help. As meditation works if we believe meditation can help. I told one of the doctors how I feel much better after meditation, and I suggested that they should teach patients to meditate. And she was like "Yes, but meditation doesn't work for everybody"...

Totally agree with that. I was in the hospital due to depression. Anyway the experience taught me a lot, now I realize that there are better methods to get out of that. Because is like you say, when is the ego who is trying to do it, it comes back. They say that if you have depression once, and after taking their pills you get better, the chance of have another time the same depression is 50% , then if you have depression a second time you have 90% of having depression again, so now they will prescribe you pills during the rest of your life. WTF!!! Isn't that a belief too???? I didn't have any problem anymore with depression after begin to meditate consistently.

@Barna I am not having anything special during meditations, but I am having tons of little insights about my behavior and about the nature of reality. It's amazing how fast "my" belief system changes so fast. I am a different person everyday Lol...

@Barna I was doing the exercise you posted and you are right. Feelings or sensations happens in the place where we touch or feel an object. Awareness is all around us. Now I understand what it means when they say it's all pervading.

I noticed that when I am dreaming I don't see throught "my eyes", I see myself from the "outside" as if I was filming the dream and I was one of the actors... I also had a dream where I lost my identity, and I wake up scared as fuck... at that moment I wasn't even questioning my identity.
