  1. There were people like for example Ramana Maharshi who took their enlightenment far enough to the point of no return by the virtue of inertia. Meaning they wouldn't get highs or lows from their changing environment. That makes sense considering that the default state of being of perfect peace is unchangeable. But until you're there you would experience ups and downs caused by different factors including environment.
  2. Hell is a state of mind. The mind and the self doesn't die, only the body vessel does. Wherever you go there you are. Purify your mind and be free. Inquiry about your beliefs and see the false ones for what they are. So what are your beliefs about hell and are they really true? Do not be bothered about other people's beliefs, do not accept them as true. Just investigate your own beliefs, if you have fear, then you have some beliefs (most probably false because the fabric of reality is love, not fear).
  3. What about just moving out of there? First Do, then Sit Or choose to do your sitting meditation outdoors.
  4. @AdamDiC Surrender is nonsense. I too had a wish to surrender when I was 21.. tried really hard for way too many years and I failed Of course I did, no one can ever truly surrender :)) Do inquiry: surrender what and to whom? Who gave you the belief that you should surrender? Could they really do it? What if you replace the word "surrender" with "letting go" and apply it to all your false beliefs? What are your false beliefs? How do you let go of them? What is beneath your false beliefs programming? Now that's something worth investigating! What about if it feels bad, if it bothers you, if it's not win-win for every character in the play, consider it false and drop it. By simply labelling what is false as false, you drop it away automatically. P.S. Don't force yourself to love your parents. That's a tough nut to crack so let them be. Start with your beliefs about smaller matters and when you're freer and more experienced, investigate the beliefs you hold about your parents. Meanwhile, be civil to them and respect their right to not be changed. They are what they are, let them be and focus on yourself.
  5. lol that's like catch 22, no matter what you do cannot win That becomes true when you believe that the world and your beliefs about it are real/ true. Refuse to be trapped. Question all your beliefs and see what is beneath.
  6. That's wise, indeed the world and its people are mirrors who challenge our ego. But they also stroke our ego and numb it, causing us to suppress and to regress. Not everyone is trained enough and has the strength required to use the world and its people as a mirror to expose the ego. I think solitude can be very beneficial, giving the opportunity to investigate one's mind without distractions. When the goal is achieved, can always get back in the world and use it for testing.
  7. Do it for a few weeks then allow yourself to change your mind according to your new understanding. Best would be if you could go live in another city far away, then you don't have to explain why you don't fancy anyone Read the story of Lester Levenson, he locked himself in a New York apartment for like three months, sit himself on a chair and didn't stop until he cleared all his subconscious mind. I wish I could do it <3
  8. IMHO before being, there WAS non-being - what a nonsense that invalidates half of what Nisargadatta had to say.
  9. I like how you question everything The way you think reminds of a younger version of me! Never stop questioning, it will take you as far as your heart desires!
  10. "God is only an idea in your mind. The fact is you. The only thing you know for sure is: 'here and now I am'. Remove, the 'here and now' the 'I am' remains, unassailable. The word exists in memory, memory comes into consciousness; consciousness exists in awareness and awareness is the reflection of the light on the waters of existence."
  11. Good question. What about letting go?
  12. As you clear your mind of its blocking beliefs (that you aren't creative enough), it becomes all creative. Or, like others have said, you can try to bypass the mind's blockages and enter in the free mind zone, with the help of substances, meditation, affirmation. But bypassing blockages takes effort and it means they're still there. So your best long time bet is to work at freeing your mind. A pure mind is all creative <3
  13. they mean "nothing" = "not a thing" = "not even some thing" = "being"
  14. Feels like the way up is like climbing a hill, lots of huffs and puffs but not much talking I'd say why not investigate also the beliefs you outlined in your opening post.
  15. Orthodox will never unite with Catholic, they think every negativity is a hell condemning sin, they are the least forgiving religion I know of, they are convinced that everyone who isn't on their path is on a path to eternal awful hell tortures. If you can get anything useful from it, good for you, just take it with a grain of salt Edit: after watching some of the video, notice the fake (oh they think it's truthful) holy than thou attitude, the shaming of others supposedly sinful ways, the complete lack of higher understanding about the world and self, the separation, the hypnosis methods. I don't think these people understand that "repent" means "let go, move on". While they speak of peace, they are very much addicted to inflicting pain on themselves and others. If you take away their god given right to pain and negativity, they wouldn't know what to do with themselves
  16. Either you hit a wall of apathy that you need to release or it could be that negativity (fear, lust, anger and pride) are by habit the motivators of action in the physical world. As you release more of that, you become more accepting of what is and less inclined to use your very precious time chasing worldly accomplishments. I would say, if you use your time for spiritual development, that's a more worthwhile use of your time than chasing worldly goals. But also in order to do spiritual work you need to maintain your body. So yes, the work that makes you money to use for your physical needs, you keep doing for as long as you need to. If you set worldly goals that are worthwhile enough to accomplish, try to rewire yourself to act from a positive emotion (pure intention, courage, acceptance, peace). By the way, in writing the Letting Go book, Hawkins inspired himself from Lester Levenson's speeches who also inspired the Sedona Method and The Releasing Technique and a few others.
  17. I doubt Jesus preached hate. He more likely preached letting go. All of them preached letting go and the question is "how?".
  18. Most of this very useful insight is correct, just that love is not something you have, it's what you are. I don't think that by focusing on being loving our negativity automatically goes away. It can be kept at bay for a while with effort, but it eventually resurfaces. In order to effortlessly be our loving self, we must address our negativity. I tried being loving and ignoring my negativity, I tried the "fake it till you make it" way, but eventually the negativity resurfaced. Although that was quite disappointing, because of the insights I have gained, I would not give up despite of the apparent setback. I'm just more convinced that ignoring our negativity doesn't make it go away. If anyone has some good ideas about how to get rid of one's negativity, I'd love to hear about it.
  19. The solution is to empty the separate ego mind just enough for it to keep working but not to overshadow your natural peace. It's a destruction process.
  20. By posting quality content, by engaging in meaningful exchanges, by reporting your progress.
  21. Most beautifully said <3 All those questions seem to come from someone who's looking to get more than to give. And who has like a ton of work left to do on themselves. You are right, an enlightened master has to do nothing and people come to them by themselves to enjoy the power of being, the presence awareness. Even to a teacher who has their own work in progress but who's looking to give and to share, people will still come in large numbers. Like Leo and his very giving website. Some people who come here would pay for more advanced materials, while others would give their presence, contribution, attention, helping to grow a good website who might eventually become profitable via commercials. It's all a balance of giving and receiving and giving comes first.
  22. They say a true Buddha has only one desire: freedom for everyone Enjoying your answers though. If Leo makes a change to the forum, maybe add a Like button.
  23. Nothing Why would one dig nothing for? What came first, nothing or everything?
