I don't do meditation, only self inquiry. Maybe that's incorrect, but my instinct tells me that if I don't know what I'm doing, I can easily turn meditation into a glorified suppression tool. Just like I don't do bhakti yoga because worship doesn't seem to be right for me. Just do self inquiry and pay attention to your unwanted/ false beliefs. -

Ultimately you don't want to repress your unwanted thoughts but to make them gone by processing them. Disbelieve your false beliefs. If your beliefs are true, they are also peaceful and don't bug you for attention. -

We move our physical bodies in a physical world built on mental beliefs. It's enough to be aware that it's your beliefs you're ultimately looking for, then the process may become clear and easy. Now if you could identify and process your unuseful beliefs on your own, you wouldn't need books and gurus. If you can't, books and gurus are good, just choose the very simplest ones that aren't looking to dump even more unhelpful beliefs on you. -
As @Mu_ mentioned, you need to have a goal in mind, let's say it's perfect peace. With that in mind, go about your day and notice what disturbs your peace in the moment. Check why, what is the root belief of whatever bothers you in the moment. Take a point of reference, the absolute versus the relative and check your beliefs against that: are they really true. As long as any belief is still true for you, you won't let it go. To let go of anything, you must qualify that as false. Hope that helps.

Here's how I moved from seeking to knowing. I now have an awakened and enlightened consciousness, though not an enlightened master yet because of work in progress. So, after seeing, listening and reading all I wanted about the most prominent enlightened masters in known history, I observed how they dealt with duality and took notice. At the same time I identified what bothered me the most and that was how to deal with my past (my feelings about my past were eating me alive at the time). That led me to "letting go" so I read and practiced some with various amounts of success. As I was investigating how to make this letting go work, it became clear that the physical and mental worlds are worlds made of beliefs. So I must be holding billions of conflicting beliefs in my Subconscious mind, from how the physical body functions without my input, to physical life scenarios. Now there is a matter of time and focus to deal with them and for sure it's possible to discard groups of beliefs at once, no need to go over them one by one. So how to discard beliefs: you check what bothers you in the moment and decide if that's still true for you. If it's true, you still want to have that attached to you. The other way to see some light is to silence those beliefs (with meditation or breathing techniques) until you get some clarity, enough to be able to drop enough of them at once. Hope this helps. -

Those who have brought themselves to know are awakened, those in the know are also enlightened and those who are awakened, enlightened and free of conscious or repressed beliefs are enlightened masters. As everyone on here apparently still has belief work to do, it doesn't look like we have an enlightened master among us at the moment. -

It's all concepts or beliefs so maybe focus on getting rid of those. Like what if "fear of losing oneself" is a learned cliché. Then what you're afraid of would rather be not getting your way in life as you want it. -

Things we consider worthwhile doing, we do well, as best we can, for the sake and beauty of the skill and things well done, without keeping our eyes on the reward. Just do your thing exquisitely not worrying about the reward. -

What do I know about this? Is it really true? -

Everybody knows what Love is. The winning question is how one can be it. Some say fake it till you make it and let it take care of the rest. That's good advice but don't beat yourself up if you can't sustain it. Even better advice is to not focus just on love while ignoring your demons, but let it aid whatever practices resonate with you. The goal being to rid yourself of all your false conscious and subconscious beliefs. -

Some teach that the mental world trumps the physical world, so if police pulls you over, you would comply in order to keep your physical body safe (why? of course you need your physical body in order to more efficiently purify your consciousness) but you would also investigate your subconscious thoughts that caused that to happen. It's obviously a good idea to avoid level confusion of physical world, mental world and the higher worlds whatever we might convene to name them up to the absolute. So then let's also avoid confusing "your physical body" with "you". That being said, I couldn't agree more that the physical world (which in my opinion is a hard core hell world) is based on inequality and exploitation - more likely through an error in evolution than by design. Either way, there should be ways to circumvent or even fix a physical world's crappy ways by using the simple knowledge that mental trumps physical. So yeah, true & correct knowledge is good and its spreaders are basically good doers -

If you have a purpose you don't have time to be bored. For me it's self inquiry -

Good post. It took Eckhart Tolle one year of contemplating on a park bench, it took Nisargadatta 3 years after focusing on a mantra his guru gave him, it took Lester Levenson 3 months after doing intense self inquiry & let go. You should read Lester's story or even better listen to him telling it, very inspiring. Anyway, all these people were enlightened enough. The point is that whatever you believe might become true for you. Like, if you think it should take you many lifetimes, you might prove yourself correct -
Stop judging what happens as "mistakes". Shit happens, it most probably has an origin in some of your subconscious beliefs. Instead of just beating yourself up, investigate all your beliefs about what happened. Self inquiry, pen and paper. As long as you hold false beliefs in your mind, it's very hard to avoid sabotaging yourself so dig up the root cause.

It's a matter of levels and point of view. The closer to Self Being, the more truth and less levels. -
iamme replied to Miguel Oliveira's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Miguel Oliveira You don't really have to scream in order to let go. Letting go is a skill on a par with and complementary to meditation, yoga, self inquiry and so on. All you need to let go is discrimination. So, as you feel heavy energy, ask yourself why (self inquiry). Write down the answer. Keep asking yourself why until you get to the very root belief. Contemplate if that's true or false from a higher perspective. If you can see whatever as false, you're as good as done on that point (let go, release, clear). Alternatively try belly laughing -

@Leo Gura By the way it's going, it's too easy to lead to level confusion. It's a matter of fact that people are on different levels of consciousness. If anything, level confusion is prevalent on forums. Some talk about a level (usually the one they're at) and there comes another who's higher than a kite and tries to force haul them to the absolute (without actually fully being there themselves), while pretty much invalidating their true needs. Yeah but there are no levels! Really? Then why don't we blow up Planet Earth and these meat bodies and be done with it already? Any way, not against explaining levels for the purpose of eliminating confusion but do it in a balanced, inclusive way, making sure you don't create more confusion. It's easy to do that if you keep in mind and keep mentioning that it's a level thing. -

Ego is the sum total of your programming, not an entity separated from you. If anything is sneaky, that's not your ego, it's you -

What dies is the body. The eternal being that we are cannot ever die. I'm also convinced it's impossible to kill the ego-mind with one blow. What if the body is needed for the processing/ transformation of ego-mind, then you really don't want to kill the physical body until you've completed your ego transformation. -

I have to agree with you, forums are full of people whose minds are overflowing with pretty useless concepts. Can't even read most of the word stew on offer, but still skimming the forum for some reason. I guess still hoping someone will make it faster and make our world a better place lol.. -
I guess Sadhguru is manipulating you Take only what suits you, discard the rest. Anyway, I don't like people who need 20 minutes to say something that should take 2 minutes. They are wasting my time. But that's just me, maybe he's helpful to you, just take it with a grain of salt. An imbalanced opinion is usually false. A balanced opinion presents both pros and cons (and it's still just an opinion).

Truth is God: eternal, constant, never changing. How does one let go of the false? See it as false and stop feeding it energy. -
iamme replied to How to be wise's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
truth is that which never changes, brings deep peace and doesn't stir emotions When you inquire about your beliefs, see if it's true or false, not right or wrong. If you're not sure which is it, it's probably false.
