  2. This is what I want to do. Realistic? If so, how do I make it happen? Thanks.
  3. I read somewhere that if you do exactly what it is you love the most for money, you'll enjoy it less because your brain will think you're just doing it for the money. Have you heard of this phenomenon?
  4. Haha no, I just feel uncomfortable around people due to past abuse and mental illness.
  5. Thanks. What are some ideas for meaningful/conscious jobs that can be done in solitude? I signed up for Upwork and Fiverr by the way. Do you know how long it takes to start getting gigs?
  6. I feel like that's a pipe dream and it's not steady pay. I just want steady pay to be isolated. Any tips of finding work from home quickly, ideally as a data entry operator?
  7. No, my own interests don't extend beyond my own being and comfort, with the exception of maybe philosophy. My favorite thing to do is positive thinking in silence and solitude. I'm very inward. I think that's the first obstacle. I have no passion for solving societal problems beyond the basic moral obligation of contributing. I have no passion for providing value, except in a quid pro quo fashion. I'm working on making sure my extrinsic values are aligned with intrinsic pleasure, because I could die tonight for all I know. So I ask myself: what do I want to do every single day, day in and day out, for the next 30 years? I also try to be realistic: I'm not entrepreneurial and online marketing is extremely competitive, so I doubt I could run a successful business. Any other ideas would be highly appreciated.
  8. Enlightenment is a whole heck of a lot easier to achieve in the Information Age.
  9. Thanks! How about Case Manager? That way I'm helping people with things like food stamps and welfare.
  10. I'm interested in working as an admin at a non-profit. My top three causes are 1. feminism 2. HIV/AIDS 3. the homeless. I have years of volunteer experience in the non-profit sector and tons of admin work experience. I believe non-profit work is "me" as I'm a free spirit and free spirits tend to work at non-profits (free spirits are usually "earthy.") In 2012, I worked with a job coach for about two years to break into this field. All she did was show up, randomly apply to jobs on online (which I could have easily done on my own), and leave. It was a profound waste of my time. If I hadn't figure something else out, I would still be unemployed, up to today. Anyway, any tips on how to get a job in this field?
  11. 1. Focusing on the breath. I don't think I can fight the mind with the mind. But this is super boring and I might get under stimulated and therefore sucked back into anxious thoughts. With that said, Leo said Being is an acquired taste. 2. Focusing on an image in the center of the belly. This is more interesting and therefore might be easier to sustain. But it might be fighting the mind with the mind. And it might be harder to incorporate into my daily life, i.e. walking. What do you think?
  12. Food is a pleasure...
  13. My life purpose is inner peace. But my thoughts and conflict with people make me frequently angry, which makes life pointless. Also hate the feeling of anger. It feels terrible. What do I do?
  14. My thoughts make me angry and so do people sometimes. So I ignore them, disengage, and most of all distract myself. Is that a good coping strategy?
  15. Without going into politics here, I was listening to Leo's video about having a cause greater than yourself and your distractions. I have been distracting myself to deal with my issues. But I have been pretty selfish because I'm a misanthrope. But now I'm considering giving back to society by helping to fight the culture wars against Marxism, postmodernism, radical Islam, black nationalism and on the other end Duginism, white nationalism, antifeminism, etc. In other words, fight to maintain the status quo because it could get a whole lot worse. I just don't know how to go about doing it. I think they're called dream jobs for a reason, they're only in my dreams. I also think it would be emotionally very taxing. I could just be hedonistic (in a positive way) and continue to enjoy life, work a decent paying job, and avoid people. Or I could fight for a cause. Counterargument to Leo: "everyone think they have to have a cause because they're idiots. Just find something you enjoy doing and let the monkeys hang themselves" -Dr. Christopher Hyatt What do you think?
  16. I want to primarily (if not solely) rely on myself and my thoughts. Is that possible?
  17. The purpose of college is to get a marketable degree so you can get a job that allows you to be independent. Period. I don't care what your liberal arts professor lie and tell you. Want knowledge? You can pay $40,000 to be brainwashed to be an oversexed leftist or you can pay $1.00 in late fees and go to the library. You could probably learn more useful stuff at Google U. Yes, work takes up a sizable chunk of your life. You will wake up tired and come home tired. But you could either 1. do a mindless job that pays you to go on the Internet and look for your life purpose at work i.e. receptionist, data entry, proofreader, admin asst 2. look for your life purpose on the weekends or 3. work part time.
  18. Is freelance writing realistic?
  19. My passions include: reading, writing, philosophy, personal development, some politics, and religion. Any job/career ideas?
  20. *Hugs* That was really helpful. What do you think of this form of meditation?
  21. Thanks everyone for taking the time to respond. Do you think meditation will help me heal past my anger?
