thanks guys for all the answers. @SriBhagwanYogi @Markus i did the rupert spira meditation in the video provided and it was a game changer. I admit i never liked his videos because i always saw it as slow talking, philosophizing while not going anywhere, but it really helped. Markus, i thought the way he teaches in the videos (leo) is keeping awareness on awareness itself, he said that several times throughout the video? thats the hardest part to me, just experiencing without getting tossed around by sensations and thoughts like trying to swim in the sea when there are crazy waves throwing you off course. But thats what practice is for @Pouya i did that and its pretty good Oof, i actually tried to get through the mooji one, but i didnt get what he was saying most of the time. -

just happened to me as well. It became so distracting, like endless waves. NOthing you see/feel/colours/thoughts/sounds/voices/sensations are to be focused on. -
Cross-legged like meditation, or is normal sitting on a chair fine?

i just copied this book. you can find out the pdf online for free! also another thing i just read from an amazing art teacher: ART= technical aspect of expression (50%) + emotional/intuitive aspect of expression (50%). Technical aspect of expression= FORM (70%) + COLOUR THEORY (30%). so keep in mind that just copying what you see in nature with absolute accuracy is nothing more than a photograph made by a human hand Emotions make up 50%! so learn how to become more intuitive and connect with your feelings when seeing a thing, and try to bring that feeling through into the drawing/painting -

this is EXACTLY WHAT I AM GOING THROUGH RIGHT NOW!!!! Ahhhhh check this blogpost right here__> Mandatory that you read this. Now. Happy drawing fwend https://noahbradley.com/blogs/blog/dont-go-to-art-school i just read back and see that your at the level of drawing stick figures. Just make sure this is something you llove and have always loved. Life purpose almost always correlates with what you as a child enjoyed doing. Even hard stuff like engineering or natural born scientsists as child obviously werent studying cells or equations for fun but they loved questioning everything around them/ Van Gogh did start art school late, BUT in his childhood he did draw and paint. Ask yourself but did you enjoy as a child doing most. What qualities did people notice most in you as a child. If you truly love art then go right ahead, but practice EVERY DAMN DAY -

@cetus56 how so? like you spontanously enter awareness/meditation zone? thanks guys. Another question, i always see self inquiry done in one of two ways, one is asking yourself "who am i" and contemplating on that question until awakening whereas the other method, the one taught on the video is more of a meditation, where you dont ask yourself but you just focus on awareness, or become aware of emptiness/awareness. Are these two methods fundamentally the same? i feel like the first one has much more intellectual components to it than the more meditative one. -
i was doing my usual hatha yoga regime and while in eagle pose, i was looking at the trees and the hills beyond my window, focused in on them, and just emptied my mind. What followed was the most bizarre feeling, for a second or 2, my heart rate sped up super fast, and i felt the coming up of tears in my eyes and my heart filled with so emotion, it was as if they were communicating to me, it sounds absolutely insane, but it felt so good and powerful. Then my rational mind was like WTF and the monkey mind came back to play. has anyone experienced this, what is it, kundalini? or something else?

@Big Guru Balls @Nahm amen, yesterday was a sacred day/holiday regarding yoga (mahashivratri), and after having that cool experience, my mind was so focused on getting to that again, excitement and whatnot, especially since it was a sacred day, i thought maybe it would be easier to tap into that, but i barely could concentrate during yoga, and of course had monkey mind throughout. So the lesson for me is whatever comes up, comes up, and to not boast about it too much. -

in the guide for self inquiry, its mentioned that the reason people say "go into your mind" is because beginners identify themselves with the mind. the point is to find out what am i, so naturally you go looking where you originally thought you are. It would be too complex for beginners to say to focus on all around you, so people start with the inside. But as you progress, you'll see its not. -
I mean you always hear on youtube by influential spiritual teachers that if you want to cure a "dis-ease" in your body you should start meditating and alter your diet. And there are many success stories of people healing themselves with this approach. Then why do yogis/gurus, who are the epitome of meditation, probably practice meditation all day everyday, have a clean diet, etc..why do they get health issues like cancer? The question popped up after i read on here that a famous yogi did mahasamadi after figuring out they have cancer

okay i know this thread is very old, but i came across an interesting thought after watching about self-inquiry. So during the first "awakening" during self inquiry, according to the theory, the false self separates from the true self. But then this creates a duality. You become detached from form. The form and formless are separate. IN the video, it was stated that when you experience pain, whether its a back ache, grief from a loved one dying, etc, the power of self inquiry is that you are no longer attached to form. You are DETACHED from all form. so you experience no suffering. You know your not the body. And then i instantly remembered this thread. Is that the reason why its not rare to hear of a yogi getting cancer or some other disease? Because they have separated form and formless, the true self and false self, and say "oh, im not the body, so i dont experience suffering and this doesnt bother me" And usually their state gets worse. Later in the video, its said that once you realize the true self from false self, you need to reunite them, because if not, your believing in a certain duality. That means you need to integrate formless and form and see that there is divinity in every form. Would that mean that some yogis who got sick didnt re-integrate the form and formless and continue thinking "oh im not the form", instead of "im both the form and the formless" or "im everything". ??Or maybe they didnt give a shit anymore lol -

@Salvijus i heard from astrologers and other physic peeps that this whole week is crazy regarding energies, and that from feb 28 to march 5th is the only time when none of the planets are in retrograde. I usually am sceptical of this, but weird things have been happening the past week. Definitley will watch out for march 4th sunset, thank you @Nahm very much yes, but im working on it. in that one moment, i felt truly at home. I have yet to try self-inquiry, in fact i dont really much about it yet. But i never thought about drawing out my experience form yesterday. How can i try to encapsulate such an intense moment into paper, idk but ill try @who chit there are things such as "imitations of oneness"? i havent heard of that this is so beautifully written -

most people in modern world have zero contact with the actual earth. Its proven that people sleep and feel better, after they walked barefoot on soil or grass for 30 minutes. Theres a good documentary called "The grounded" that goes into more detail. People who are Vata have "air" element dominant and can sometimes feel as if they are too much in the clouds (thoughts-wise). Grounding helps ALOT. if you have a park around you or a forest, try barefoot walking, it helps with being less reactive to intense emotions too Just in general reconnect with your innate cycle with the Earth, like getting up at sunrise and watching the actual sun rise, spending as much time as you can outside (even if its cloudy it was shown to induce deeper sleep). All of this naturally relaxes you and makes your whole system function better. i think your trying too many things at once. try just focusing on one intense practice (like what your doing with concentration meditation). then after a few months of doing that, add another practice in. Rushing everything can lead to more back-steps then forward-steps -
moon777light replied to Viking's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
do you live in a city?, in a high multi story building? I think grounding would be something to look into. You seem very "Vata" type in ayurveda. -

meditation especially activates the medial prefrontal complex, the brain area responsible for "self-awareness", above our eyes towards the middle of the forehead. I get a tingling sensation right there, which might be a scientific explanation for "third eye pulsating". I also get this during yoga, shavasana pose. But it only happens when im super relaxed and focused in the now.
