Pain is unavoidable. You either integrate it, or suffer.

The basic application of the alphabet of desire seems to be: Freedom through unification of the emotional center in meaninglessness A tool for paralyzing the mind in gnostic or ecstatic rites to achieve magical states of consciousness. So far I've been using this branch to transform emotions into each other. I was successful in traversing the dual symmetry (death <=> sex, love <=> hate, fear <=> desire). I didn't try to change them across categories yet, like love/desire, or death/hate. The process is straightforward so far. I am a receptacle for emotional charge until it dissolves into pure energy. Then, it is possible to transform it through a shift in perspective. So, in short - it's non-reactivity (mercury) followed by recontextualization. This process however does not lower the emotional content. Intense love is just as unbearable as intense hate.

Apart from emotional experience, the alphabet of desire provides a map of 4 somatic emotions that map onto 4 alchemical elements. These are: pain-pleasure, elation-depression. They form two dualities such as fire-water, earth-air. I need to read more about the elements to see the connections.

Oh, right - you're afraid of pain. How is your comfy life serving your avoidance, hmm?

The answer to your questions is, as always: it depends. I treat meditation techniques as lessons. They give me a nugget of truth that I can embody in my everyday way of being. There is a form of meditation that is dependent on thought, deep thinking, but it is destructive in nature. You use thoughts to deconstruct your mind, to understand the lens through which you perceive the world. The point is to discard those lenses and see more clearly.

I finally understood why the alchemical principles were so intriguing to me. They are the shared factor between the Alphabet of Desire (AoD) and the Enneagram of personality (EoP). Enneagram of personality explains how personality is formed as a coping mechanism that deals with suffering. In this theory, suffering manifests in three basic forms towards which one of three responses may be formed. EoP identifies these forms of suffering as Shame, Fear and Anger and it divides the theory into three sections: 3, 6 and 9. These three forms of suffering link to the AoD sections called: Death, Fear and Hate. Personality coping mechanisms correspond to alchemical principles: Sulphur, Mercury and Salt. The three basic sections of EoP are 3, 6, 9 and they are governed by AoP's Death, Fear and Hate respectively. These "pure" personality types are created through habitual application of Mercury: transcendence. Type three is the Death of Death, called in AoP as Release. Type six is the Fear of Fear, called in AoP as Terror (doubt is less extreme). Type nine is the Hate of Hate, which is Anger in AoP's terms. These three types are blind to their suffering through habitual turning it onto itself. The next 6 types are created through projection of this suffering: internalization (Salt), or externalization (Sulfur). The Sulfur types are: 2 (Destruction), 5 (Fright [?]), 8 (Aggression). The Salt types are: 4 (Atrophy), 7 (Aversion) and 1 (Loathing). Alphabet of desire is, however a tool for magic and not for mysticism and therefore it exposes both sides of the emotional duality. Each of those categories have the positive counterpart that is omitted in EoP. The full spectrum is: Death <=> Sex (Creation) Fear <=> Desire Hate <=> Love The inverted basic Enneagram types are: -3 (Dissolution), -6 (Joy), -9 (Rapture) The internalized types are: -2 (Lust), -5 (Attraction), -8 (Passion) The externalized types are: -4 (Frustration), -7 (Greed), -1 (Attachment).

Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite knew what's up. This is simply beautiful. To think that I finally found him through a philosophical meme I stumbled upon on facebook.

I am definitely convinced of that. I'm starting to dabble in transformation of emotions.

Not much, sorry. I'm glad that you found it the quote useful though. Alchemy became relevant to me recently for some reason. The four elements map to three principles (Sulfur, Mercury, Salt), but this mapping is incomplete and it bothers me . Air + Fire = Sulfur Water + Air = Mercury Water + Earth = Salt Fire + Water = ???

By all means, sit and listen to a woman that is afraid and vulnerable... if you're a kind stranger. If, however, she's afraid of your shared future - this advice is suicidal. I wonder how many girlfriends can listen to their own faults as they are perceived by a vulnerable woman in a state of fear.

I've been exploring black magic for some time now, especially the alphabet of desire. Black magic is the path of non-existence, emptiness. I found it very strange that the alphabet of desire would be placed there, but I'm finally starting to piece together what it actually means. This is the art of spiritual alchemy, transformation of emotions. Its purpose is to expose the underlying oneness of experience and uniting it in its meaninglessness. It seems to be the bodily counterpart of random belief. It has beautiful geometry, but I'm not too interested in copying it here.

Synchronicity is a meaningless word. There is nothing that corresponds with it in actuality. To have the notion of cause and effect you need clear separation between that which causes and that which is caused. However, all of existence is interdependent. As you look around, there is no single thing that has essence of its own. All of it is in-between, each thing depends on other things that depend on other things ad infinitum. It has infinite depth (this caused that and that caused that thing), and breadth (this is only meaningful in its environment). As the present moment unfolds, it always does so through transformation, in plenitude. Things that transformed are no longer here, but are somehow contained. Things that are here will dissolve just before you have the chance to understand and exploit them. If they come again, they will be different just so that your will to manipulate them is the ingredient of transformation. Synchronicity is the feeling that you experience when you witness the flowering of the present moment. It means: it's fucking magic and I have no clue how this shit works but I can't deny that it does. It does not seem to need me to understand it though, so I'm gonna enjoy myself while I'm allowed to live.

In all seriousness though, as you let go of resistance, there are no unconscious people anymore. -

There is never a point in which you can be logically confident that this particular person is the one you should spend the rest of your life investing in. Whatever the two of you think of your own development is ultimately irrelevant. With time, all differences will be turned into synergies, or you will kill each other in the process . In this sense, relationships can be a framework for consciousness work. Love is the attraction between opposites. There is no better way to transcend yourself than becoming happy with the incarnation of your own shadow. -
Yesterday I went to a physiotherapist. I never knew that my head could move like that . It was very painful, but I caught myself smiling in response to it. The biggest revelation was when I noticed that I tense up the muscles of my neck in anticipation of pain. This is how fear is incarnated.

When you look at the night sky, do you see Saturn? Is Saturn a dot on the black sky, a giant planet with a ring, or a sound you imagine in your head? Is there a Saturn without a human to perceive it? Is there a human without a giant planet to defend him from asteroids? Is a human alive? What is the exact point in which life is located? Is it located in the brain? Is there a brain without the rest of the body? Is there a body without food? Is there food without "death" of other "live" organisms? Are there other organisms without the Earth? Is there Earth without the sun? Would there be Earth if the protoplanetary disk condensed in such a way that there would be no Saturn? That rock you're not conscious of seems to disturb you a lot for something that seemingly does not exist. Consciousness is not ours. -

Yes, I bet I sound all kinds of things to you. I really am not going to explain my posts to you. -

Hahahaha yes! How about official forum badges? You could turn the reputation system back on and assign colors based on how much people like each other hahahaha. The enlightenment badge would have to be a direct transmission from our Lord Savior Leo though. Only if someone sent a video of how he kisses a picture of his foot. You could sell those pictures, man! $50 each! Hahahaha!
