Bam. That's turning turning defeat into motivation. -

They are supposed to put your brain into that specific wave pattern. Here's a very short breakdown of the various brain waves: https://blog.mindvalley.com/brain-waves/ -

I think theta is the major meditation state. I started my meditation practice by listening to stuff like this: You obviously need headphones for the binaural aspect to do any good. I listen to this once a week or so, but have left it in the past for the most part. It was very helpful for the first couple months. -
I have my first one coming up this month and wondering how much money to "donate" to the teacher-institution. I know that it's free, but I want to give. I was thinking $500, but is there an unspoken average amount that people tend to give?

OK guys, thanks. I just didn't want to break protocol if there is one. Doesn't sound like there is! -

I wondered the same thing over the weekend. Noting and labeling is my normal practice, but sometimes I more enjoy sitting and watching the movies in my mind, so I wonder if switching it to "do nothing" every so often is detrimental to my regular routine. Seems like 2 techniques would be.....not ideal. -

Cinder block over the head would work. I would think this is one of those things that falls apart when you try to force it or be too goal-oriented. My longest no-thought state while meditating is typically only 8-10 full respirations. To get that, I focus entirely on feeling as much action and detail as the air comes through my nostrils as possible. I become my nostrils. When that's my world, nothing else is going on. LOL, toward the end of that timeframe, I can feel ego getting restless and coming up with an image to throw at me, just to break the no-thought state. It's like a restless, prankster of a child; harmless, but intent on getting attention. When it happens, I just acknowledge the image or thought without judgment or bitterness....and get back to the sit. I've found that forgiving and accepting my ego's antics while meditating has spilled over into waking life. I forgive myself and others a lot more effortlessly than I used to. Anyway, that was a long way of saying "I don't really know how to help you." -

Just a strategy I learned from watching Shinzen Young videos on YouTube. I tried to find it to post it here, but there are sooooo many. -

If your work environment allows, set your phone to beep at you at a few times every day. When it beeps, you do a mindfulness check of your mind and body, just like you would if your were meditating (I'm assuming you do Vipassana). The idea is that you'll eventually habitualize to these "systems checks" and start doing them on your own at times during the day, even without the alarm. The more you do it, the more you'll do it. -
@Dhruv LOL!!!!!

@phoenix666@ULFBERHT Couple questions. I got to om japa in the kriyas but I dont really get it. What is this "ong" supposed to sound like? Is it supposed to be said at a certain frequency? does this frequency change as you up up and down the chakras. It says you'r only supposed to stay at each chakra for like 2 seconds but also talks about "feeling" these chakras. I don't feel anything from them and find myself just moreso conceptualizing their appearance and location. Pasted it in the wrong spot, but he shows you how to say "Ong." -
LOL, I changed a word.

@DnoReally Numbness from the physical position you're in while doing this? Yeah, if you're not used to sitting while meditating, it takes your body a few weeks to get used to it. -
After 40 days, I sure you saw some of the no-fap benefits, right? If so, then you know how to get back there. It's just a matter of putting the effort into it. I'm in the same boat.

I did a mushroom trip Saturday night and got so frickin horny that I jerked off. In that headspace, I didn't have the control that I normally do. It was like a dream. It was great though. Oh well, back on track after my slip up! I think I had 4 weeks without it.

In his defense, I didn't know what you meant, either, and English is my first language.

Wow, haven't been here in a week. Doing good with the no-fap thing, but yeah, this thread kind of died. Couldn't believe it was on Page 2. When I didn't see it on Page 1, I halfway wondered if it got shut down for some reason.

@lobster Yep, I repeat Oms for both the 1st and 6th chakras. I do two in a row at those chakras in order to keep the number of Oms the same for each level. If you didn't do two in a row at 1st and 6th, those two would have fewer Oms than the rest. That said, I have the feeling that this is one of those things that we shouldn't obsess about. In the grand scheme of life, aren't we all missing an Om or two? -
PsiloPutty replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Yeah, that's how I do it, too. It keeps the count the same for all chakras. -
PsiloPutty replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
That was the most confusing wording that I've encountered so far in the book, and I still don't know what he meant. I just do two "Oms" in a row at medulla, before going back down the chakras. -

I have no shame in admitting that I've always had a man-crush on Bruce Lee. One cool dude. -

@phoenix666 How blown would our minds be to learn that Gene's tongue is so long because he's an enlightened Kriyaban who had his frenulum cut? And that the original title was "I Wanna Kriya Yoga All Night" but Paul and the rest of them voted to change it? -

@onacloudynight Makes me wonder if Gene Simmons is enlightened....... -
PsiloPutty replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
I'm not to that part of the book/practice yet, but I'm having doubts that my Talabya exercises are going to lengthen my tongue enough to stick it up there. Hate to be a doubter, and I'll still do them of course, but damn I'm a long ways off from being able to do it. -
PsiloPutty replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
You and I are doing the same things, and for basically the same lengths of time. I'm not sure how sustainable/compatible the two practices are, as far as long-term goes, but I do them 12 hours apart, so maybe that makes it more workable. No idea.....I'm just shooting from the hip for now.
