  1. Heres how the conversation in my mind plays out after quitting coffee for months and still having cravings. Lower Self - "Dude you should drink a cup of coffee today, just today, and make it a big cup! Youre not addicted anymore so its fiiiine, we can do it as an experiment, for fun!" Higher Self - "No I dont need it! I need to stay focused and present" Lower Self - "But it makes you more productive, all your creative breakthroughs have come from coffee!" Higher Self - "The breakthroughs came when they came, I just happened to be on coffee, and I've had breakthroughs without it many times" Lower Self - "BUUUUT HIGHER SELF!" *lower self goes silent and starts plotting next move* This is just to show you how severly underestimated caffeine is as a drug, its been 3 months and I still have cravings for something so "innocent" BE(A)WARE!
  2. @sarapr Like I said in prior posts, I'm just sharing my experience, the negatives I felt were PERSONAL, I mostly wanted to see if anyone had similar feelings.
  3. Well I substituted morning coffee for a morning meditation habit . Yeah association was a big part of it but I also liked the motivation and energy it gave me, but I want to find that intrinsically instead.
  4. How do you define "rich kid"? There are many types of rich kids out there, be careful not to stereotype.
  5. I need my daily dose of Leo, thats the true subtle addiction
  6. According to my research its actually difficult to find anything negative written about caffeine, there are many good things written on it. However I only quit because of the direct negative effects I felt, I don't doubt that there are certain benefits but for me they aren't worth it.
  7. Its not just the US my friend! Its Europe and even China's smaller cities are building Starbucks and other types of coffeehouses (I lived there). Coffee is pretty euphoric for me, but not at all on the same level as coke.
  8. @Joseph Maynor The first time I detoxed from coffee after a 7 year habit/addiction I had a headache for a week and brainfog, I know where you're coming from.
  9. A feeling I cant quite place.
  10. @Joseph Maynor I should have been more clear, I dont actually believe that its literally a dream, I havent experienced it as that, it was more of an intuitive notion.
  11. @Joseph Maynor What do you mean?
  12. It connected with me I guess, I've always felt "reality" to be a bit surreal ever since I was a child. But I understand your point.
  13. He could have gone more in depth about how to use it as a practice I guess, like how Tibetan Dream Yoga is a useful tool for awakening.
  14. I dont get the confusion, its not a new idea, many have spoken about life being a dream. Chuang Tzu, Osho, Borges comes to mind, Oh and of course... Row Row Your Boat!
  15. Luckily I realized the downsides to too much caffeine and that helped me stay away easier Downsides personally *Shaky hands *Always hungry (dont know why) *Monkey mind *Energy levels always up and down *Anxiety Hope this isnt too preachy, I have nothing against anyone who likes coffee, just sharing
  16. I went off it once and then got back on and then off again, the main reason was actually because I was so bored and sleepy at a terrible job, which ive quit now. Yes, its so underestimated, I almost get criticized for even mentioning that I dont drink it (Its a big darling in Sweden).
  17. Hey everyone! I'm trying to build habits around my Life Purpose and its going pretty well. However I have a little problem, I'm an aspiring musician and whenever I start working I go into crazy monkey mind, this is fine during the session since I like to be creative and such but its really hard to shift my focus afterwards when I want to do something else. My monkey still goes on and on... (I really DO have no free will haha) I tried some "extra" meditating for 40 minutes and even that didn't help much, any advice? Thanks
  18. I've received many great ideas from you guys just as expected so thank you!I'll try to implement as many as I can and I realize more and more that creating habits have to happen by trial and error, personally speaking.
  19. @Elisabeth I get into a state where I'm creative and then I get a bit hyperactive yes. I just wondered if theres any way to turn a roaring rapid into a streaming brook if that makes sense. It feels a bit neurotic to not be able to calm myself down, even though I love it.
  20. @NahmI'm practicting it as best as I can but I'm more inclined towards the composition and writing part for the moment. I'm still not decided on how to express myself vocally, maybe I'll do singing...or spoken word...or Sprechgesang.
  21. @Nahm Oh yes! I think thats why its just so hard to get guitarists attention when they play, they're in another realm... Yeah, I play guitar, produce and sing to the best of my ability.
  22. Music, nothing has touched me so deeply (so far) as music has and I wish to harness the emotion of music and lyrics to help people.
  23. Alright! I see! Sounds like its worth a shot. I also realized that putting the most passionate habit at the end of the day might be fruitful, then the monkey interfering wouldnt be as big of a deal since I wouldn't have to shift.
  24. Thanks! Yes and its an absolute must. Its a bit paradoxical; at the same time I love planning and being creative it can also be very distracting, for example if I want to spend time with someone but keep zoning out because my mind is going bonkers.
  25. "Soon I'll have the courage to leave my thoughts behind, I'll give back all the knowledge and keep the wisdom precious in my mind" Three - Massive Attack, one of my favourites!
