  1. Its not the job of a lone gunman to stop violent protestors, its law enforcement. I really dont get why you need to defend it, do you have to defend this nutjob to be Right Wing or something? You know you can be Right Wing without defending everything they defend right? You can divsersify. I for example am a Left Winger but I dont agree with the burning and looting of buildings... Wow amazing right?
  2. Youre missing the larger point. The problem is not the individuals, the problem is the culture. Carrying AR-15s in public spaces is endangering civilians. Is there a necessity for a young man to do that? We have law enforcement, and as far as I know there are no moose to hunt on the street. This would have never happened if rifles OR handguns were more regulated.
  3. The real question is... why the hell are you allowed to walk around with a rifle in public as a civilian. US gun laws are absolutely crazy. The system needs to change.
  4. I dont think removing statues creates any significant change but we should probably get rid of the worst ones though, I was happy when the statue of King Leopold II was removed in Belgium, but thats only because he really was "evil" and didnt really achieve anything of significant. Columbus atleast took Europe to America which is something positive. We have to go case by case.
  5. •Rejection •Judgement •Embarrasment •Your own thoughts of darkness and self-criticism that will spiral out of control if you fail •Societies standards •Being perceived as creepy Theres a big list, probably more, your self-worth is linked with other humans. Its literally death to go out of your comfort zone. I dont like to use hunter-gatherer evolutionary thought but for humans taking huge risks in a tribe 100k years ago it could have literally been death, if your tribe disliked you you were cast out into the wild to fend for yourself so we love being safe and not stepping out of bounds.
  6. Takes about a week to get normal after quitting meaning no headaches or fatique. Then about a month to get your natural energy back. Psychologically its almost impossible to get over, if you been addicted for a few years.
  7. The WEIRD bias - Western, Educated, Industrial, Rich, Democratic
  8. You can be skeptical while still directly experiencing stuff. Skepticism is not used to keep you close-minded, its there to keep you grounded, big difference. Regular Joe: I wont do Reiki because its bullshit! Irregular Joe: Im skeptical about Reiki but I risk nothing trying it for an hour, who knows. Not really interested in Tarot, I only f with things that seem interesting to me.
  9. Just treat it as an experiment, isnt that worth the money? What if you find out something cool. For me it cost like 50$, thats basically nothing, and it was really fun, it made me feel happy the rest of the day. Havent done it since, dont feel I need to. Life is an amusement park, try shit.
  10. I dont know if its normal to want to cry when someone hovers around your neck and shoulders... Look, I tried Reiki because I wanted to directly experience it, is it real? Does it work? I dont know and I dont care, Im just sharing what happened in my direct experience. There is very little scientific study of this topic and its very taboo, I can bet that in a 100 years Reiki will be as normal and accepted as going to the gym. We just havent understood what it is yet and science is in a very materialistic paradigm at the moment so it doesnt want to open its mind and study weird subtle energy stuff.
  11. You also have to consider what "works" really means? Does looking at an abstract painting "work"? Does reading tea leaves "work"? In subtle ways anything can work, I got some really good life advice from the practioner that was connected to the healing session even though the session was just me feeling stuff.
  12. I did Reiki once, when the practitioner hovered above specific areas I felt specific emotions, around my neck I felt darkness and pain and almost cried, around my thighs I felt relaxation and strong pleasure, severe mood swings from minute to minute haha. Go try it! I think there is something to it, alot of hospitals use Reiki as a supplement to regular medicine, thats gotta count for something. There is also alot of testimony from regular non woo-woo folk who say they did one Reiki session and then started bawling out of nowhere after the session, completely shocking them.
  13. A story is a story, doesnt matter what you believe about it, metaphorical or literal, still a story.
  14. You forgot the wheel, dude! Most important invention ever made! Seems to located around Purple/Red.
  15. Love this! I think cheap airplane travel also contributed alot to Green/Yellow.
  16. @Opo @diamondpenguin @itachi uchiha I recommend choosing a topic, for example non-duality and then Googling "non-duality goodreads". You can find alot of books this way. Example: https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/non-duality
  17. Find your own books, dont be lazy.
  18. Well, you have a optimistic view of human nature, good for you I guess.
