I agree with you OP. JP has great sensible advice and I find it helpful. I would say to try to figure what skills you would want to learn that you like that can earn you money. A life purpose or you can do physical labour to earn money in the short term. Learn a vocational skill like carpentry, electrician, or plumbing. I am not 100%, but from what I understand, its cheaper and shorter duration than college. In addition, you could eventually open your own business if you wanted to. I think Nahm has good advice. Take it one step at a time, you gotta live more presently and be more focused about what you can do now to create a future. Really though, only your soul knows what to do. Get in touch with yourself.

If JP truly knew, he'd be there talking about it. I agree with you. This is why I am studying to become a clinical psychologist and will try to be active force on the psychedelic front. Some professors weren't just uninformed though, they had a position that psychedelics were dangerous. Of course you're gonna have those professors who probably did it in their youth a couple of times though and probably kept it a secret. Edit: I think there is a big stigma around psychs, it's gonna take a while for people to get into this new form of energy. Let alone stuff like Kriya Yoga and Bioenergetics. -

Leo, you are absolutely right those are very serious issues. And I care about those things. To me, JP is pointing to those top capitalist who are using their influence to use propaganda in the media and lobby the government in an effort to create a totalitarian system. I think JP and libertarianism sprang up for this reason. Even JP in his book talks about not being an ideologue about anything. I went through a phase of libertarianism, watched some Milton Friedman material, I felt it was necessary to really understand the effect of individualism, but I also saw its limitations. Which I believe there is an alternative to the capitalism we have now and the communism that happened then. perhaps https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarcho-syndicalism -

Unfortunately, I'd say you're in the minority I have a Bachelors (2016) and Masters (2018) in Psychology from well-known accredited institutions in NJ. In my whole education there was one professor who taught the historical and modern viewpoints in psychology who mentioned psychedelic mushrooms once during the semester even recommending trying it. One professor said he had heard that psychedelic mushrooms had some benefits, but then followed that with that LSD made you see hallucinations of unicorns. Honestly, most of my professors appeared completely clueless about them, like the most they knew was what was seen from their clinical practice and what they learned from D.A.R.E. Of course, I did not speak to everyone about my interest in psychedelics, only a few teachers who I read were open-minded enough to hear about it, but their focus was in other parts of psychology. In addition, what clinical psychologists experience in their clinical practice is most likely a situation where somebody didn't have enough education or understanding of how to use a psychedelic and then had a awful situation occur. This probably heavily factors about their beliefs about psychedelics. JP may feel its not his role, or that he does not know enough about it to really be a force for it. @Leo Gura You make a lot of solid points. What JP fears is another communism again, as in one man with an ideology being used to make the masses submit. That is a valid concern since it has happened in history and one wants to avoid it. I'm not saying that's what socialism leads to either. JP just tells us about his observation and I enjoy his analysis on the Bible, facism, and psychology of evil, stuff like that. -

Personally I like JP. I won't follow him like a Guru, but I think he is a great at what he does as a Clinical Psychologist. I also own his 12 rules for life and I am about half way done with it. There is a lot of good practical advice, stories, and I chucked several times reading it. I get why people criticize him here, maybe It's still the orange in me, but I appreciate his stern and careful view of life. And in this video regarding psychedelics, I kind of don't think he's wrong. He acknowledges that psychedelics are a very serious experience and even mentions the need of doing purifying rituals before undergoing an experience. We also have to consider that JP has probably seen some shit in his years as a Clinical Psychologist and so very hesitant about glorifying psychedelics especially as an academic. I also agree with Leo that he has a strong fearful personality, but I can appreciate it. -
All of them are worth watching. When I first found Leo, I literally just scrolled through his videos and picked the topics I was interested in until I watched like 75-90% of his content lol. It will take a couple of years. As for what you should watch a young person? Follow your intuition and have an open-mind. Let your curiosity take you to those videos. In addition, get good grades, focus on school, listen to the people around and your teachers with an open-mind. Try to address these conflicts, issues, as well as good times with understanding. Try to grow from everything you encounter. There's so much to learn: physical fitness, nutrition, the game of politics, comparative religion, psychology, biology, physics, music, art, and your own potential to create, love, hate, and fear. It's all worth learning and integrating. Just keep taking it seriously and following your intuition, it will naturally come.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend 5-meo for a first timer. that's some serious shit. Hell I'd say I am a somewhat experienced tripper and would not do 5-meo possibly without a trip sitter after seeing some videos on it.

If it makes you feel any better. I am nervous before all of my trips, I've had many fears of ending up going crazy running in my head, play out bad scenarios of what could go wrong. What ends up happening is: 1. The fear melts away. Tripping takes me into a peaceful place after the initial hump and I am recognize how dramatic and over the top my fears are. 2. It NEVER turns out how you imagine it be. There's a story behind this one. One time, me and a friend were doing 3 drops, I was nervous as heck because it was the strongest dose I'd done and I imagined all these bad scenarios. In the end, it ended up being perfectly fine, helpful, memorable experience. In general, you just want a strong trust in yourself that no matter what, you don't do something dumb like call 911 or anything impulsive, you're going to wait until you ride the whole thing. So you've gotta commit completely. If you get weird thoughts, let them run its course, don't hold on to them, if they bother that much, write it down or don't, but tell yourself you'll address it when your sober or a clearer state of mind. -
that's very true. In Leo's case, he claims to read slow-moderate pace, taking moments to contemplate whats being said in the book, and taking notes which is an optimal way to ingest books. I believe him given the depth of his videos.

Loved the quotes! especially the Bruce Lee ones. As its stated in spiral dynamics, all stages have their pros and cons, I think moving past orange is not abandoning everything about orange, but kind of upgrading it from a higher consciousness perspective. same with green and so on.

I tried them when I was 19, am about to turn 24 this month. They require a lot of experience in order to learn what is best for you. I learn deeply from high doses, almost like my whole understanding is being arranged unconsciously without needing logical propositions. Low-doses are much better if one is going to contemplate with thoughts. Just have to keep experimenting, carefully, and slowly. Technically, brains become fully developed at around 25-26, so I have already broken this rule and I feel fine. I do not believe they are harmful physically, the only thing I'd be worried about is maturity level. I agree with Leo, one definitely needs maturity and a level of grounded-ness, trust in oneself. It turns you inside out and when that happens, you better be ready to not act impulsively - which unfortunately teenagers struggle with due to the lack of development in the frontal lobe. -
Leo bro, you rock! You got some haters and I don't blindly ignore them, I read most of their content when its posted on this forum, and they got it all wrong man. They're too close-minded, they misunderstand you, all kinds of silly mistakes. You are doing great work and you have made a great impact on my life. I've showed everyone close to me your videos. I think you are an intelligent well-read man and I appreciate that about you. Anyways, words won't explain the joy I've received from watching your videos or the influence you've brought to my approach to life, learning, and psychology.

Scientifically speaking, there are no studies that has determined how multiple responsible psychedelic trips can effect the brain of a growing adolescent. I think 18 years old is a good age to start experimenting, but as Leo said. -
SgtPepper replied to SageModeAustin's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
when you do it, it feels real and you know its real. Sometimes an LSD experience can feel more real than the sober experience. Think of its effects as having the ability to raise your 'consciousness' and you just recognize that reality is there its just a different angle. The brain's default system gets re-arranged for several hours. -
I feel you man! reading books are great. So much knowledge out there one can apply and transform one's life.

Very dramatic and exaggerated. And when they question Leo's credentials, I think about this picture : I'll be honest, I do not know much about about mathematics or physics, I pursued the Psychology field, but Leo does back himself up with quotes and has read books like: Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid - which is a serious Math book. I certainly don't see them arguing against his points? instead they attack his character with exaggerated claims. Leo on multiple occasions has said that Absolute Infinity and his idea of God is in congruence with Abrahamic God and Brahman too. A lot in there, but so much misunderstanding. Anyways, I guess you gotta expect some haters?

There's plenty of skills that can be learned without a degree. (carpentry, plumbing, etc) In addition, you can probably come back and teach meditation, yoga, provide spiritual guidance privately. Spend some time brainstorming.

It is helpful to personal growth. It actually really depends on your intention on what you get out of it. My self-esteem and confidence grew exponentially just from my first trip. Is it necessary? Necessary is a strong word, it is totally possible to grow without them, but psychedelics will help you grow and mature much faster than probably anything out there. -
SgtPepper replied to 7thLetter's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
You can't expect to take a psychedelic and not expect change. And with that can come confusion, doubt, and uncertainty, but its the process of growth. Edit: I have had low moods after a psychedelic for a bit, often because the psychedelic gave me a lot to ponder about; but I have also had high moods after a psychedelic. However it never turned into depression. I say maybe just wait till your on vacation possibly. -
It's possible, but on mushrooms, I saw the idea of myself and life in a whole new light. I couldn't even write it off as "woo woo". It was too real.

A mystical experience is more convincing then words. I would try to just keep an open-mind, start slowly exploring spirituality without any biases and explore various materials such as: 1. Watching videos of gurus like Sadhguru and Osho (there's a lot more). 2. Reading some books, books by Alan Watts or Eckhart Tolle are some examples. 3. Start a meditation habit so that you can start to recognize your own experience in a more conscious way. 4. Try a psychedelic (responsibly).- this is what led me to pursue spirituality and get a meditation habit. 5. Look up Kriya Yoga. Theres a lot of ways to start building yourself. Start slow so you don't feel overwhelmed, but at some point its gonna need to get serious if you want to realize the truth. That is why people here are being serious here and their definitely is a lot of seriousness around here. Spirituality is a serious pursuit. Watching Leo's videos is also very helpful and was pretty much how I got started being serious about spirituality. However, I was always curious about nature, God, religion, and spirituality when I was a child; however because I lacked deep understanding I quickly became an atheist. Experiences of higher power is very very real, it'll be surprising when it happens.

Well, you are in for a treat my friend. Tripping is wild as fuh. No other drug experience can compare. The thing with psychedelics is that its pretty hard to predict what could happen. In one scenario it could be absolutely life changing and you could all the answers you wanted; in another way it could just leave you more confused than before trying it. I have had both experiences, but my first medium dose trip was amazing and big perspective change for me. I was also looking for different things each trip, so like I said its up in the air. Part of me wants to tell you it will really help, but its also not a cure all (don't want to give you false hope). It will definitely help you get in touch with you intuition tho. Edit: I agree with what PsiloPutty is saying, especially in regards to post trip days, I feel much lighter and more creative, helps with meditation and everything.

Microdosing is your best bet to be lucid and still be able to come up with grounded ideas. But medium to high doses can show you how to naturally be creative. It's actually all about letting go of all preconceptions, comparisons, standards, and just create freely! your intention in itself is good enough to guide the direction of the creativity tivity.

Yoooo Leo, I extremely resonated with your comments about Incels, dating, and attraction. You hit the nail. I think, in one way, Elliot was trying to uplift and direct those people to actually take on MGTOW in a healthy and spiritual context.
