Ahhh yeah, don't you love that part? -
Some rapists perhaps. Nice strawman.

I am not suggesting that the killing of a murderer is to be done as vengeance. It is done to conserve system-wide resources which are better used elsewhere. The money we spend feeding and housing a murderer for 40 years is better invested in education, child care, healthcare, reducing poverty, etc.

Cenk does not have a good understanding of Rogan. He demonizes Rogan too much. Rogan does not hate trans people and Rogan is not really a right-winger. But it's still the case that Rogan does a disservice to his audience on the Covid vaccine issue and Ivermectin. There is no clear science that Ivermectin is effective against Covid. There is enormous clear science that the vaccine is highly effective and safe.

Good points. Perhaps a more precise way to frame the neediness problem is as follows: When attracting people, your neediness level needs to be on par with theirs. If you are significantly more needy than the other person then they will not perceive you as attractive. And the higher quality a person is, the less needy they tend to be. So if you want to hook up with high quality people, make yourself less needy. But of course you will still have needs, and so will they. And that's okay because they will be roughly on par. This doesn't just apply to girls. I also applies to friends and even professional relationships. People want to be friends with those who are strong and capable. And strong and capable people are not desperate to be given freebies.

It's not about obeying norms but more about rehabilitating oneself into a healthy member of society, and righting one's wrongs. It is possible to rehab oneself. But this requires a serious desire to do so by the murderer. There has to be a genuine remorse and seeking of forgiveness and then a letting go of the past. If a murderer is not willing to do that, why should society keep him around? For what purpose? We euthanize dogs for less than that. Of course I am talking about an intentional 1st degree murder here. Not something accidental. I consider lethal injection pretty humane. Being locked up for 40 years might hold more suffering.

The difference is that your "real" memories have an internal consistency, accessibility, vividness, and emotional resonance which your fake memories will not. As a human ego-mind you are not strong enough to will and weave new alternative memories into being. Memories are dreamt up at a much deeper layer of consciousness than your ego-mind's will. So in practice this makes your memories feel very real. Of course they are still a dream from the awakened POV, but you ain't that conscious so you don't feel that usually. -
Actually it feels pretty fair to me for a murderer to die. What's unfair is paying to house them for 40 years and putting up with their bullshit. The problem tho is that some people are wrongfully convicted of murder. We should probably try to rehabilitate the ones we can. And then maybe the ones who can't can die. I would issue an ultimatum like: you got 10 years to repent and get your shit together and rehabilitate yourself into a useful and loving member of society. Here are the resources you need to do that. And if you don't, you're getting lethal injection. It's up to you.

Well, most people live merely to survive. A sort of path of least resistance where they settle for doing what is practical, easy, and mediocre. And in that case they aren't working to honor their deepest passions, values, and love. To love your life you gotta make love of life the backbone of your life, not just "getting by" or being successful. I have an old video called like the 65 principles for the self-actualized life. Of course you can have friends and socialize. Just don't get so carried away with that that you don't execute on your core principles and think outside the box. Lots of socialization can put you into a sort of group-think where you become this herd animal. Your friends are probably not gonna want to grow and develop themselves the way you do. Of course you can upgrade your friends along the way.
-
Telling people to get fit is not a serious policy solution to a pandemic. Of course get fit and eat right. But people are dying by the thousands in the meantime.
-
I wouldn't say they lied. They were just operating on group-think. Their numbers are down because: 1) Election is over and Trump is out of office. Of course less people watch Biden because he's not an insane madman with nuclear weapons. 2) CNN does vanilla news, which is not sensational or overly partisan -- which nobody wants to hear in this highly polarized environment. People want to keep one side tearing apart the other side. CNN does not offer that. CNN does not offer drama or strong opinions. Vanilla reporting is not sexy. In practice isn't not a big difference if Rogan's audience trust Rogan more than CNN.
-
Why do you assume CNN intentionally lied but Rogan did not? Intentional lying is rarely a problem with disinformation. The problems are ideological, epistemic, and perspectival. The mind warps and distorts reality to construct its own self-serving narratives. Rogan does this as much as or more than CNN. Rarely is someone outright lying to you, mostly what they do is distort and frame the situation in a biased and partial way. CNN did that, and Rogan did that.

Rogan claimed that Ivermectin was responsible for him quickly recovering from Covid. This is way more harmful and unscientific than CNN saying Rogan took horse-dewormer. Both statements were inaccurate, but Rogan's was more harmful to average people listening. He's also quite anti-vaxx. Which makes no sense given that Ivermectin is made by Big Pharma. If you believe that Ivermectin is scientific, then you should believe that the vaccine is 10x more scientific.
-
I don't see a contradiction. The models are not identical so there is some fuzziness here of course.
-
Exactly. But the people who listen to Rogan give more credence to this "stupid comedian" than they do to doctors and journalists. Easy to say when you are earning $100 mil. Factually, CNN is about as trustworthy as you will get. Of course they have bias, but everyone pretty much does. CNN's bias is easy to compensate for. But that doesn't change the fact that people who watch Joe Rogan consider it more truth than CNN. You don't have to claim truth or news in order to brainwash people. The brainwashing happens automatically just by listening to and liking Rogan. Rogna's influence is large than CNN's and the kind of influence he has is not merely comedic, it is largely political and cultural. When he says Ivermectin cured him of Covid, a big part of his audience actually believes that.

Because high-value mates are pretty rare, so having lots of them is never going to be easy. You might as well ask why having lots of gold is so hard. Because you have to dig through an entire mountain to collect it. If you had very low standards for your mates it would be much easier.

A) You are able to get a regular job. You are even able to find cool jobs and high paying jobs. B) Billions of people are interested in spirituality. Millions of dollars could be made, but not with your resigned attitude. C) There are many cool and interesting businesses you could start that can generate a good income for you. All these things are possible but you would have to get very serious and passionate to create it. If you want something like financial freedom or a passionate career, you have to devote your life to building it. It won't come to you by default. The default is wage slavery. You have to be willing to work hard and smart for the things you value most. Nothing worthwhile comes easy or cheap.

It would interesting if Rogan had to answer for all the misinformation (lies as he likes to word it) he has spread about Covid and Ivermectin and all the BS his own guests spread. Why does Sanjay have to answer for CNN but Joe does not have to answer for Alex Jones? The reality is that people who watch Rogan are more misinformed than those who watch CNN.

Bro, that's how life is for most people on the planet. Not only that but by the end of the week you'll be so exhausted you'll just want to spend the weekend crashing on the couch and watching some TV, not doing any kind of personal dev work. The solution is to build a career with a job that you're really passionate about, so that those 8 hours working each day are actually something you want to be doing. The hope lies in building a career aligned with your life purpose. Or starting a business and earning so much money that you can afford to take a lot of time off to work on your own side projects. This is what I did. Today I could not work for 10 years and just travel the world or do side projects. But still I choose to work because I mostly love my work. But I had to work real hard and real smart to reach this point. This is not any easy point to reach. You'll have to be super committed to reach it.

Without self-deception there cannot be "other". Therefore God isn't just the greatest deceiver, God is the only deceiver, since there is no one else to deceive but itself. -

Alcohol extract is awesome, avoids all the toxins from the flesh. You just need to source high proof pure drinkable alcohol. -

Maybe mushrooms would work better than LSD. Or some other chemical. You gotta find something that makes you light and playful, not seriously metaphysical. I can get very playful on mushrooms (low dose). But I've never tried it in the club. That would be an interesting experiment. Not sure how it would go. A bit risky. -
I think therapy is a great supplement to my work. My work doesn't really replace therapy. In fact just recently I've been thinking of hiring a therapist. There is just some stuff that I cannot effectively see by myself alone. It's good to have a human foil who can reflect your own bullshit back at you. There are many aspects of your psyche which you do not see because you are operating from it and lack distance.
