But having some regret about how you've wasted your time in the past is a great thing. More people should experience that. You can accomplish your best and deepest work in isolation. This is no excuse. Isolation should make you more productive, not less. It's important that you learn to take advantage of downturns and crises to multiply your growth, not use it as an excuse for being inactive.

Hard sciences are more credible precisely because they are easier. The fewer the variables the easier it is to do science on it.
