CNN does not spread misinformation. They have a certain mainstream/corporate bias which you may disagree with, but that is not misinformation. CNN provides a lot of accurate factual reporting on major news events and they have journalistic standards. If anything CNN is too neutral on political matters to the point of deception through false equivalency. Fox News is a propaganda machine for the far right.

Very good -
There are definitely legal risks to using psychedelics. That is no illusion. You should be very careful.

This simply isn't true. You can set the intention to awaken, you can work towards it, and you can deploy technologies to help you. You can plug some 5-MeO-DMT. It's like you're saying nothing can be done to catch a fish, it just has to jump out of the sea and land in your boat. Meanwhile, some of us are fishing with dynamite. Dream characters certainly have agency, just not infinite agency. You can choose right now to take some 5-MeO-DMT. -

They are not conscious of what is being experienced. It's not ironic. They are simply asleep, lost in their dream. -

What went wrong is, he is mentally ill + very immature and vain. Psychedelics are the least of his problems. -

Emotions are largely unconscious, automatic habits of the body-mind system to help it survive. So long as you are in that body you will have automatic emotions that arise and hijack your consciousness as part of your survival programming. It doesn't matter whether you intellectually understand that all is one. For the same reason that I get hungry, thirsty, horny, etc. -

That would certainly help give the student a frame of reference for what consciousness is capable of. -

First of all, pretty much everything Biden tried to pass was moderate. Only in the loony world of conservatives is Biden's agenda radical. Be careful with how conservatives shift the Overton Window here. In many ways this is a frame battle. Secondly, the problem is, Repubs would still not lets Biden pass anything meaningful even if he tried to be more moderate. Obama tried to appease Repubs and had pretty bad results with that. The problem with unreasonable and debased minds is that they cannot be appeased. And the Repubs have only gotten worse since Obama. The simple reality is that Biden is a fairly moderate president but the state of decay of the right-wing has gotten so bad and yet their hold on power so strong that even that hardly flies. Progressives make a big mistake when they expect Biden to do the impossible. Even if Bernie was president he still could not pass shit. The plain fact is that Dems don't have enough seats in Congress to get serious progressive agendas passed. And no amount of complaining or manipulating can overcome that. But with all that said, it's actually good PR for Biden to be seen as fighting for serious progressive issues. When Republicans block it, that makes them look bad. Pretty much the only thing Biden and Dems can do is a PR campaign that shows the American people all the good stuff we could have gotten if Repubs were not dogmatic obstructionists. PR-wise, Republicans need to be painted as obstructionists who are undermining effective government and who have no serious interest in governance. Biden is governing pretty well. The problem is his power is very limited and he's not going to perform the miracles that progressives want. Solid governance is not flashy or exciting.

They absolutely exist, as long as you dream them. Correct It's as good as concepts get. Just keep in mind, the dream exists while it is being dreamt, and moreover, it is Absolute. The dream IS reality. Stop thinking that the dream is somehow less than reality. That's incorrect. You are framing it as there being God above you. There is no God above you. You are God and you a dreaming everyone else. You are also dreaming yourself to be human rather than God. Hence you're cosplaying as a human. In this way you hide the fact that you are God from yourself. Of course. All of science is a dream. You cannot use science to wake up, you can only use it to analyze and catalogue the contents of the dream. Any kind of science will always be a finite method. No finite method can grasp Infinity. If scientific method became infinite it would no longer be scientific method, it would be Omniscience. By definition scientific method is not Omniscience. Of course. You dreamed up atoms, Albert Einstein, mathematics, history, evolution, kangaroos, oxygen, time, space, cells, the Big Bang, the brain, and going to school to learn all that shit. -

But they are all too often not done "properly". Since the student has no frame of reference for what is proper. -

It's not a good teaching for several reasons: 1) Everything is Mind. You're never escaping mind. There is technically no such thing as no-mind. 2) Even people who have supposedly reached no-mind still think. Which paints a false picture of what no-mind refers to. 3) God-realization and awakening can be had with a fully active mind and thoughts, and in fact it's useful and important for the mind to contemplate and make some sense of God. 4) The mind can technically be used to grasp the Absolute. But this mind has to be fueled properly with psychedelics so it becomes a transhuman mind. 5) Mind is not what prevent awakening. Your state of consciousness prevents awakening. The key is not to shut off the mind but to raise one's state of consciousness. Which can be done by shutting off the mind but not necessarily. If you raise your state without shutting off the mind, it works just as well, and perhaps even better. 6) An empty mind works well in a mediation retreat setting, but doesn't work so well in a complex world of survival which intellectual problems exist. 7) An empty mind can still be ignorant and wrong and full of dogma and bad believes and opinions. You cannot solve intellectual problems by just shutting off the mind. This is like sticking your head in the sand. - - - - - - By no-mind what they basically mean is a meditative state free of thoughts. A still mind for a certain period of time, in contrast to monkey-mind.

This. The whole teaching of "no-self" is problematic in this regard. The mind can get so stuck on the notion of no-self that it becomes blind to the fact that all is the God Self. The correct teaching is not no-self, it is God Self. Even though, of course, God has no self. I feel that neo-Advaita and Buddhist style teachings can get people stuck in no-self. -
Leo Gura replied to Ineedanswers's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Not at all. 99% chance you never will unless you make serious effort towards it. As I keep saying, the human mind will not get it. You will not understand what other is logically. You are not going to sit there and puzzle this out. People naturally have a lot of wrong ideas about solipsism and related matters. Which is why I say, stop listening to humans and take a psychedelic. It will show you directly in a way that no guru can. Words simply cannot carry this weight. You need a method way beyond words. And even beyond meditation. -
Leo Gura replied to Loving Radiance's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
There is no such thing as a single God-realized state. There can be many kinds and degrees of them, and they can come and go or stick around. Lots more variation exists here than we are commonly told. There is no good map of all these possibilities. -
Leo Gura replied to Loving Radiance's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Depersonalization is simply not God-realization/awakening. Depersonalization is some other kind of lesser state of consciousness. There can be thousands of alien and weird states of consciousness, some of them quasi-mystical, but not really the same as full on God-consciousness.
