I've been seeing a lot of talk in western media and on this forum about how insane, crazy, or evil Putin is. Well, such talk should immediately make you suspicious of your own worldview. This video offers a much better perspective of Russia's and Putin's perspective than anything I have seen coming from Western media. What I see consistently is that people in the West fail to consider Russia's security interests at all in this situation. They just dismiss that as a cover for Putin's personal lust for power or Putin's delusional view of history. Don't take this as a justification for Putin's war, but as a way of understanding the situation better. If you cannot understand the survival agenda of your adversary then you will not be able to correctly predict his actions and negotiate with him. That's the point. This is not about morality, it's about being understanding. You can't have peace with someone you fail to understand. This is also not about blaming the US or the West, or creating some kind of moral false equivalencies. It's about understanding how to prevent conflict.

Part of the problem is that growing income inequality in American society -- thanks to unchecked late-stage capitalism -- has created a lot of resentment and dissatisfaction among average blue collar folk. Trump then hijacked and fomented this resentment as a con-artist is bound to do. Reagan actually played a big part in laying the seeds for this with his rampant capitalism and deregulation. But those seeds would not fully sprout until decades later. The irony of conservative policy is that once their policies prove to be a failure, they don't admit wrongdoing or correct their ways, they blame liberals and use this as an excuse to double-down.

As I said, not all crime is the same. Breaking unjust laws is actually in alignment with higher consciousness and morality. A law is only valid and conscious if it's a conscious law. A law banning rape is a conscious law. A law banning weed is an unconscious law. Humans write bad and ignorant laws. But pedophilia is not one of them because pedophilia causes serious harm to children so it must be policed.

It's just a phase. We're transitioning from Blue/Orange to Green. It's a rocky transition that will last for decades.

Crime isn't merely culturally relative, crime correlates with selfishness, low consciousness, and mental dysfunction and illness. And not all crime is the same. There is big difference between the crime of smoking some weed vs raping someone. A decent mind will not enjoy raping someone.

1) The party of Reagan has been mythologized. It was never great. 2) There has been a general coarsening of culture and discourse over the years. Vulgarity has been on the rise as more common vulgar folk get more of a voice -- this is a counter-intuitive feature of greater democracy. Elites have higher standards, dignity, and civility. 3) As conservatives lose more and more ground, they become more and more desperate, forced to resort to shameless tactics to get their way. This has been happening on many issues because they refuse to admit any wrongness in their positions. This has made them shameless.

Yes, of course conservativism is necessary in the short term. However reality is always changing so in the long term you cannot preserve anything. Everything you try to preserve will die. Notice this.

Oh, you mean how to explain that they have one black friend? Plenty of black folk are conservative.
