If you told that to Hamas, they would kill you. That's like telling them that they are the spawn of Satan.

They certainly are. They just don't have the means to achieve it. Since Hamas is so weak they can be a useful foil for Zionist hardliners who would love to use Hamas as an excuse to justify taking over as much land as possible and not have to negotiate.

Of course nationalism is at play on both sides in this whole situation. The challenge is how to keep the nationalism healthy without devolving into toxic genocidal behavior. Both sides must restrain themselves to prevent genociding the other. The levels of development of both sides is not high enough to preclude genocidal behavior. A portion of both sides would love to do genocide. Those factions must be kept in check.

It's very different from Hamas. Number of bodies is the wrong factor to use in assessing this situation.

Israel needs to be told to use restraint. That's really all that can be done at this point. Israel will either go hog-wild or they will use restraint.

There are valid parts to the medical community, and some invalid parts. This requires nuance. Obviously if some of those don't work for you, then they don't work for you. But also maybe something will work for you. It can take a lot of troubleshooting to find something that will work.

You can't really give "freedom" and democracy to a pre enlightenment-era culture because freedom and democracy do not exist at that level of development. It's the same problem as giving freedom and democracy in Iraq. Or giving feminism in Afghanistan. Liberals make the deadly mistake of assuming everyone is equal when they aren't. Freedom and democracy can only exist once the citizens are evolved enough not to elect folks like Hamas. As soon as they elect something like Hamas, all the freedom goes down the toilet. True freedom requires tolerance and respect for alternative perspectives and lifestyles to your own. Which these Islamists are incapable of. Freedom requires racial and religious tolerance, which only arises at stage Orange and above.

Animals breed a lot. Breeding does not require development or smarts. It just requires being an animal.

Yes, however that doesn't matter when it comes down to a direct confrontation. Morality doesn't work at that level of pure violence. For moral high ground to work you gotta not completely enrage the sleeping bear. Once you start beheading their babies you can't demand mercy from your enemy. That's the foolishness of this Hamas action. The US did crush Al Queda and ISIS. So it can work. Israel can occupy all of Gaza for years.

Unfortunately I don't think they will listen to anyone's calls for moderation. They are like an angry hornets nest now. There is a high likelihood that Israel will overreact as the US did after 9/11.

To be clear, it is possible that Israel goes overboard in a nationalist, genocidal campaign for revenge. That would be a big mistake.
