Yes, he was a dick. Don't be like that. -
@hundreth Yes, I know exactly what you meant. I've experienced that kind of magical, playful energy on shrooms, and it is still very healing, life changing, and many insights come. But then there's the really deep existential insights, which is what I was trying to direct you towards in future trips.

This is an artificial distinction. You assume some kind of objective external world which doesn't actually exist. When you're looking at the zoo animals, you're just in a mass hallucination. And even so, your hallucination of the animals is still subjective. There is really no such thing a "objective". And psychedelic visions are not random. They have consistent themes and patterns across people and cultures. Giving a privileged positions to ordinary reality vs non-ordinary reality is just a bias IMO. -
Yes... this is one the problems with psychedelics. They make you so excited, so intoxicated with the magical new phenomena, that you lose track of the deepest questions. Nothing wrong with that for a first trip. But in the future, when you really wanna get some work done, try sitting very still the whole time and contemplating. It won't be as fun and playful, but you will accomplish more. The reason many people miss the awesome power of psychedelics is that they do them in social settings, where the situation quickly devolves into a carnival of fun, running around, talking, doing pranks, sex, etc. No contemplation actually happens.

Sourcing questions are against Forum Guidelines. If you want to open a new thread which asks newbie questions without sourcing questions, you may. -
@Vladimir That means you'll forever be mediocre at your job. And you will grow to hate it. And you will end up earning less money than if you followed your passion. I've done what you suggest. It was terrible although I made good money. Now I make more, and I like what I do more, and I help people more. If it's 1 in a million it's because nobody knows how or bothers to do it. Which is why I made the course. Finding loop holes is a terrible strategy. Your whole strategy is about taking value rather than giving value. So in the long-run it will backfire.

@TJ Reeves Lol, that's far out man. Now you can appreciate what a 30g trip is like BTW, if you're gonna trip that much, best not to use real mushrooms but just pure psilocin. It will be cheaper and much easier to consume. Can't imagine actually eating 10g-30g of real mushrooms. @unknownworld Well everything is ultimately a fantasy. That doesn't mean going to a zoo isn't worthwhile. Of course tripping your balls off is an exploration of Maya. But if Mars is worth exploring, then so is the mushroom kingdom The fact is, you don't know what is and isn't worthwhile exploring until AFTER you've explored it. Only people who have actually tripped on 30g of mushrooms will know. We are just guessing. We're stuck in Maya anyhow, so it's up to you what parts of it you want to explore. Some people choose to explore Game Of Thrones, some people choose to explore the moon, some people choose to explore being a Neo-Nazi, some people choose to explore hyper-galactic machine elves. Might as well choose something interesting and consciousness-promoting. But if all you want is nonduality, you can get that at very low doses. -

@username Why look for machine elves? Why not just elves and dwarves? Seems like that's the mythological meme in question. Jung's work on the collective unconscious might be worth researching and taking seriously. And so is the work of Stan Grof. Seems like the human mind has many deeper layers which are more primitive and tend to be the same across all humans. It's also really interesting to take the works of Carlos Castaneda seriously. They read very differently after doing some tripping of your own. It's seems like it is possible to live in a separate reality (as Don Juan did) from the what mainstream Western culture recognizes as "the one physical reality". @TJ Reeves Yeah, that is interesting. 10g is a lot. Never tripped that much. It must get insane-asylum crazy. From what Kilindi Iyi says, you ain't really tripped until you've tripped so hard your set and setting no longer matter, because you're in a total nother world. -

@Haumea It is really interesting how mushrooms for me have a very African/Maori/Hindu vibe. Even though I'm not well-versed in those cultures. -
Leo Gura replied to Frank B's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Do you realize what infinite means? Its means EVERYTHING. Neuroticism and suffering are two things within everything. If there was no neuroticism or suffering, there could not be infinity. Why do you overlook the beauty of neurosis and suffering? Are these not beautiful things? The reason your life is filled with suffering is because you haven't yet learned the lessons which that suffering is trying to show you, so that you could realize the nonduality of existence. Suffering is meant to lead you to infinity. If you would just listen to it. The mechanism is PERFECT! You have no idea yet just how perfect it all is. It is perfectly designed to lead you to Truth. You just can't see that yet because ego clouds your perception. That is the cost of egotism. Your suffering is directly proportional to how egotisical you are. So do the work, and you will one day experience the infinite beauty of everything (heaven). Or don't, and stay in hell. -

But what created the cultural memes in the first place? Just random fantasy? Or something more? Maybe trolls live under bridges and throw stones cause that's where the lichens grow? -
Leo Gura replied to Telepresent's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Yes, that's where self-inquiry comes in. It is helpful to clarify what exactly you're identifying with when you say "I". Find that identification and question it to hell. Don't let the mind be vague about it. What is being identified as "the pilot"? Is it the world "I"? The inner voice? A feeling in the chest? A feeling behind the eyes? What? Whatever it is, once it's found, notice that it's just a feeling/sound/image. And then wonder, "Why would that feeling/sound/image be me?" -
Leo Gura replied to zunnyman's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@zunnyman Keep doing your practices. Chances are, you're still far from enlightenment. Do you want to know what reality is? How badly do you want to know? << Hone that. -
@Vladimir The point is to align your passion with your career. If you separate these two things -- like 95% of people do -- then you will be miserable 8hrs every work day. And after 8hrs of work, you're not gonna want to do anything else but crash and watch TV. Raising your own consciousness is fine. But how you gonna pay the bills? Working at McDonalds?
-
You can certainly rake in millions of dollars with consciousness work. The one thing every human being needs more of is consciousness. There is nothing more valuable to human beings.

@heisenburger There are several ways: Work 9-5, develop skills on nights and weekends. Work part-time and develop skills. Find someone to support you, like parents or friends while you develop skills full time. Work 9-5 for a year or two, save up all your money, then quit job and develop skills full time. Start a business which makes money right now. Find a job or internship which helps you build the skills you want. You have to be strategic about finding high-paying jobs, or jobs which have low work hours, or low stress/energy jobs. You have to be strategic with you money expenses. Save up every dollar you can, stop wasting money on stupid shit. This is a bootstrapping process. Expect it to be challenging. Expect to work a little harder than most people. You're not gonna be doing it forever, just a few years.

@zunnyman Your physical and mental health is already fucked up. Enlightenment will make things better, not worse. Assuming of course your mind is open to and desiring of the truth. What fucks up your physical and mental health is unenlightenment. No, your current conceptual understanding is not good enough. That won't physically harm you, but it will lead to you wasting a lot of time chasing your tail, and you will fall into all sorts of conceptual traps. By all means pursue enlightenment. But read at least 5-10 more books about it, so you know what you're pursuing and all the intricacies involved. You don't need to do anything to prepare for it. It's already true. It's already you. Just have a genuine desire to know the truth nature of reality. -
Leo Gura replied to Telepresent's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Telepresent YOU DO NOT EXIST! Cut all this "I", "I", "I" business. It's a word that points to nothing. Just a story. Just a word pointing to other words. You might as well be spending your time figuring out how the Flying Spaghetti Monster is piloting that body. There is no pilot. -

@limun Just practice, practice, practice. All spiritual techniques require massive practice. Like learning to golf. It helps to approach all this with strong commitment and mastery mindset. -

@TJ Reeves If you're writing a serious book, it's probably best not to publish chunks of it on a public forum. You'll want to maintain copyrights and all that. Just an FYI. -
I chose life purpose over girls. But that's just me.

You haven't experienced extreme skepticism until you've doubted whether existence even exists, never mind your "brain". When your skepticism causes the floor under your feet to disappear and you tumble into the gap, that's when you know you're on the right track
