Look, power is exercised in the running of any organization. Executive decisions sometimes have to be made. If I felt like this guy was willing to change his ways and stop with spreading conspiracy theories, then I would let him stay. But such people cannot be cured. After they are warned or criticized, they only double down on their position and get even more aggressive and start crying "censorship". It's a disease of the mind that has no cure. Set fewer goals, but bigger, more juicier goals and then latch onto them like a pitbull and never let go until they are actualized. Without that pitbull attitude, you won't get far. You must be unwilling to yield to failure. Simply refuse to let failure stop you. But for that to work you need a worthwhile goal.

You should distinguish whether it's within your domain of strength. That doesn't mean you have to be good at it, but it has to fit what you have knack for. In your case your thing might not be the engineering but the vision, creative direction, management, and business side. Engineering work is easily outsourced to experts while you handle the hardest part: creative direction. If your knack is for creative direction and management, DO NOT go into engineering. This would be huge mistake. On the other hand, if your knack is for technical detail, then DO NOT go into management.
