Langan's understanding of God is pretty much correct. His intelligence certainly shines in the domain of epistemology and metaphysics. More so than any scientist or public intellectual I know of who is not enlightened. Although there is an even deeper understanding, which is Infinity/Love. Not sure if he ever talks about that, but I have not heard him say it. If you're going to state what reality is in the most clearest and technical way possible the answer is extremely simple: INFINITY And INFINITY cannot be modeled. Because all models are finite.

How about you contemplate reality instead?

Feel deeper, with mindfulness, breathe deep and slow, consciously relax tension stored in the body. Expand your capacity for feeling good/love. The capacity to feel profound love is not a given. The ego-mind is actually incapable of it. That capacity must be cultivated through mindfulness practice. It's actually very similar to feminine sexual surrender. Except you don't surrender to a man, you surrender to truth and reality itself.

Fear generates results by sending you scrambling into action. When you are walking through the woods and think, "There might be a bear around the corner" you are more careful than if you walk around thinking happy thoughts. Also, the highly conceptual and ideological way modern humans live is far removed from simple examples like finding foods in nature. If your only job was to find food in nature like a rabbit, you would have very few negative thoughts. Most of your negative thoughts come from highly conceptual, ideological mental activity far removed from simple physical survival. When all thoughts cease, there is no longer a "someone" within experience at all. Obviously there is no one inside you producing nor watching thoughts. Thoughts simply arise within a field of consciousness. Thoughts ARE the field itself. It is not even correct to say that there are thoughts vs a field, or thoughts vs a watcher. You ARE thoughts. Everything is one. There is no watcher as some object. Watcher and watched are identical.
