The more like an animal you are, the less your cognitive function matters, the less it matters what you eat. Optimizing cognitive function requires more precise nutrition and better health. If you work as a bricklayer it doesn't matter as much what you eat vs if you work as a quantum physicist.

  17. Def not. When I would go to Shinzen Young's retreats I would just meditate by myself outside away from everyone else. Then I realized, why the fuck am I not just doing my own solo retreats? And thus the solo retreat was born. But you may be different. You may benefit from the structure and camaraderie of a group retreat.
